A short YouTube conversation (Matt Kelly and others) asking whether mold exposure can cause or contribute to celiac disease. Speakers state that mold and mycotoxins can damage the GI tract, cause leaky gut and autoimmune reactions, and they report examples where Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis have been misdiagnosed when mold-related autoimmunity was the driver. The speakers explicitly say they are uncertain about a direct mold → celiac link.

Kristin's asking about the connection between celiac disease and mold, and I don't know if we can directly tie celiac and mold, but it's possible because we see Crohn's disease misdiagnosed from the autoimmunity created by mold.
Same thing with ulcerative colitis.
Because mold and mycotoxins wreak havoc on the GI tract. And as it wreaks, that havoc wrecks.
The immune system, creates a haywire immune.
System, creates leaky gut, we end up with autoimmune conditions. And I see it in kids where.
If the autoimmunity goes to the brain, we call it pans or pandas. If the autoimmunity goes to the gut, they can have Crohn's or colitis.
Now, is there a reason that we can't group celiac into that? Does it have to be genetic? I don't know, because gluten is one of the biggest offenders and creates havoc.
From the autoimmunity, especially for the thyroid. Right. And that's why people with Hashimoto's are supposed to stay away from gluten because of molecular mimicry.
And can we have the same thing with mold in the gut for celiac?
I don't know. I can't say with certainty. But I know we have very similar things with Crohn's and colitis, being misdiagnosed when it's autoimmunity from mold.
So, Kristen, I'm sorry, that wasn't a very clear answer because I don't know it. But it's a question of can that.
Autoimmunity be contributed by mold? Other similar things can. I don't know 100% about Celia, do.
