Matt Kelly explains that mycotoxins, the toxins mold produces, suppress your immune system and can prevent your body from clearing infections like Epstein-Barr virus. If you have chronic illness, mycotoxin exposure is worth investigating early.

Mycotoxins are mold toxins. You're not reacting to the mold itself, but the poison that it gives off. It's such a problem because a lot of the mycotoxins are directly immune inhibitory. As a matter of fact, there are mycotoxins that are made into drugs to be immune suppressive. That is one of the big ways that we either have a person who can't ever clear out their Epstein-Barr virus, or who's got Epstein-Barr and 4 other infections and can't seem to get ahead of them. Ruling out mold has to be, or mycotoxin exposure has to be one of the first things that you look at with these chronic cases because it's just like if you were taking an immune suppressive drug, only you're being exposed to it in the environment.
