Matt Kelly breaks down three nutrients your brain needs: healthy fats like omega-3s and phospholipids, amino acids for neurotransmitter production, and B vitamins that help enzymes synthesize those neurotransmitters.
Chapters
What would be the 3 big areas I would focus on for brain health? Now, to be real, there's 100 areas to focus on, but 3 big areas would be fats, things like healthy fats, omegas, et cetera, but also their cousins, the phospholipids, your phosphatidylcholine, phosphatidylserine, huge in the brain for stability. The next group are amino acids because we get to get enough out of the protein we eat. We might supplement with amino acids, but many of your neurotransmitters, things that affect neurotransmitters are made directly from your amino acids in your diet. And then the other would be, of course, the B vitamin family, because all of the enzymes that make all of your neurotransmitters, et cetera, run partially on cofactor B vitamins.
