A short YouTube video by Matt Kelly explaining that anyone can be affected by mold simply through breathing spores/mycotoxins, which can colonize sinuses and gut and harm multiple organ systems. He emphasizes that while no precursor is required, factors that increase susceptibility include certain genetic SNPs (e.g., MTHFR, HLA-DR), immunosuppression (illness or drugs like steroids/biologics), and other existing stressors (toxins, infections, psychosocial stress).

Mayor's wondering, what are the precursors to mold susceptibility? And I've been asked that a handful of times. And there doesn't always need to be a precursor. It's just like if your house has a carbon monoxide leak, what makes you susceptible to being affected by that carbon monoxide leak? Nothing. Just you being there is enough to make you sick from it. And the same applies to mold. You breathe, just being there, breathing in mold spores can lead to colonization in the sinuses, colonization in the gut, which then wrecks the gut. You breathing in and being exposed to mycotoxins now makes your liver at risk, your kidneys at risk, your neurological system at risk, your immune system at risk, your baby, if you're pregnant, at risk, your endocrine system at risk. More. Okay, so you don't need any precursors, but there are some precursors. Like if people have different genetic SNPs that can make them more susceptible to being unable to detox as efficiently or properly. So if you have MTHFR or HLADR and these different SNPs, that can mean your body's not tagging these toxins as a problem. So our immune system is not going after. If you have pre existing immunosuppression, either due to an existing health problem, or you're on pharmaceuticals like steroids or other biologicals, biologics that are affecting your immune system, which medical doctors love to put people on steroids and depress their immune system because it stops the symptoms, but it just makes whatever the root cause is a bigger problem as you're literally shutting down the immune system from going after it. So unfortunately, anyone is susceptible to mold toxicity due to the spores, fragments of mycotoxins we're breathing in. But yes, you are right, Mare. Genetics and existing stressors. I see you mentioned existing stressors. Absolutely. So if you already have stressors in the form of toxins, infections, physical problems, mental health, stress, you know, a bad relationship, a bad place of work, all these things, all these stressors weaken the body and the immune system and contribute to your spiraling down if you have a bad exposure of mold and mycotoxins. So unfortunately, everybody is susceptible to being affected by this, some more than others.
