Why does it take so long to get better from mold illness?

Matt Kelly explains why mold illness recovery takes months or years even after leaving exposure. Mycotoxins damage organs, gut, liver, and brain systemically. Recovery speed depends on genetics, age, prior toxin load, which mycotoxins are present, and whether low-level home exposure continues.

Jeanette's asking a great question, and I imagine a lot of people have asked this. It is, why does it take so long to recover from mold, even if you're out of mold? That's a great question. And so many people have that question. Because we're used to. When we get sick and we grow up in the regular medical system, we get an infection, we get a sinus infection, we get an ear infection infection, we get something wrong. What if we go get an antibiotic for five days, seven days, maybe even 10 days at the max, and then we feel better and we kind of have that mindset for healing, but with mold, because it's not just a simple localized infection like the sinuses or something. It affects our whole body systemically, and it affects our whole body in horrible ways long before we feel it. God made our bodies to compensate in so many ways, to try to protect us and make us not feel the problem. There's that by the time we feel a problem, a lot has already gone wrong that we don't even know about. So mold and mycotoxins create so many levels of problems in the body, affecting nearly every organ, every system, all the way to the brain, of the brain fog. To not even understand, to be able to do the research, to understand what to do next. Right? That's what it's. It's just so debilitating in so many ways. And so there are so many variables that affect how long it takes someone to get better. Now, starting with kids. Kids bounce the quickest because they haven't. Their bodies haven't been assaulted as long as us as adults. Right. They probably haven't lived. They haven't lived in mold as long as us, probably. Right? They didn't have all the pre existing conditions we had. So with kids, starting with kids, you get a child into a clean space, put them on a proper protocol, and you'll see. You can see them bounce. Some of them within weeks, other ones months. Sometimes it can take a year, but with adults, it can take years, depending on many variables, including genetics, including age, including prior toxin load, prior infection load. Okay. Including diet, including stress, including what's been affected. Like depending on which molds and mycotoxins are in their system, is someone full of aflatoxins and their liver is crushed or which, as you know, is one of your primary detoxification organs. Okay, Maybe someone's bile flow is really straining, is really strained, and it's getting sludgy, and they're not able to get the mycotoxins from the liver into the small intestine for elimination. So just little things like that can make a big difference. And that's why I love labs. That's why I love like full protocols to address all these different things. And if you're working with someone that doesn't understand mold, well, they don't know all these little things, right? Like 99% of my clients are mold or mold related problems caused by mold. Right. Like pans and pandas. I consider a mold problem because most of the time it came from mold exposure or severe gut issues often comes from mold because it wrecks the gut. So you have the variability of molds in the gut. You have the variability of which mycotoxins are in your system. You have the variability of, do you have like Sierra Leno and it's highly estrogenic. And now you've got all these endocrine system problems, you know, so there are so many variables there that we need to run labs, test, see what's happening, get a full history, symptoms, make sure the house is clean. You know, some, some person might move out of mold, but they still have. There's no such thing as a mold free home. So they still have some toxigenic molds, but they're a little bit higher than what their body loves. So that slows everything down. Someone else might get move out of mold into a new house, but now they're strained by VOCs, so that slows everything down. So it can take from months to a year to multiple years. And you just need to have a practitioner that can look at all those different variables and then come up with a protocol that helps address it to be as efficient as possible to get you back to where you need to be. I hope that helps a little bit.
