Hello everyone and welcome back to The Daily Dot, the daily version of the Connect the Dots podcast. It's January 5th, 2022, so it's day 5 of this daily experiment. I hope any daily habits or experiments that you're testing this year are going well also. One quick thing to remember is don't get caught up at this point on a certain number of tasks that you might be doing. Focus more on just the actual completion of the habit and a minimum amount of time that you want to get something done. Okay. So if I was doing this podcast and I thought, okay, well, every podcast has to be 20 minutes. There's no way I would have already kept this up for even 5 days. If you need more details on the task versus time concept of productivity, make sure you check out that podcast episode. I think it was on day 3, January 3rd. So just look back at that podcast episode. I also want to remind you that today, January 5th at 3:00 PM Eastern, 12:00 PM Pacific, I'm hosting a free webinar. So if you are listening to this on the day of, the morning that I release it. Check out the link in the description below and you can learn all about how to use the Productivity Flywheel to power your most productive year ever. The concept that I want to share with you today is particularly apt at the beginning of a year, and it's how to set goals. Now, the framework that I like to use for goal setting is one that I've developed called QMWD. It's a very simple acronym that means quarters, months, weeks, and then days. And what it does is it helps you break down a big 3-month goal into monthly milestones and weekly deliverables. It really is as simple as that. And the thing that you can do is when you continue to break down your goal into, say, this, this big 3-month goal that you have, how do you define the 3 monthly milestones that help you know that you're on the right path to achieving the goal. And then what you're going to do is identify each of those 3 monthly milestones and break it down even further into 4 weekly deliverables. So you see how this is working? So now I can take something that's pretty big, say like a 12-week goal, and break it down essentially into these 12 weekly deliverables. All right. And if you've listened to the beginning of this daily experiment, you know about the GAP method. And so basically what we're doing is we're using the gap method to achieve our weekly deliverable. And when we deliver on the goal each week, we're going to hit the monthly milestone. And then when we do that for 3 months in a row, you're going to naturally achieve the goal that you've set for yourself. Now, there are a lot of ways to slice and dice different types of goals, and you can do what works best for you. This is also something that we go into much more detail about in the Productivity Power-Up Live course. So if you sign up for the webinar, you're going to know more about the Power-Up. You can also just go to productivitypowerup.com and register for more information about it and even get signed up in time for our January 10th start date, which is coming up pretty soon. If you want to see a visual example of QMWD and a little bit more of an explanation, go to my YouTube channel and look for the most recent video. I mentioned it with the Productivity Flywheel episode yesterday as well, but the name of the video is 3 Systems to Achieve Any Goal in 2022. The main one that I talk about is the QMWD framework. Okay everyone, that is it for the Daily Dot on January 5th. Hope you enjoyed it and it gives you a bit of a mental model for organizing and delivering on your big goals this year. If you want to join me in the webinar or sign up for the Productivity Power-Up, to do all those things, just go to productivitypowerup.com and you can get all the information you need to get involved. Thanks so much for listening. Give me a shout out on Twitter or Instagram to let me know you're listening and maybe we'll keep these running. Thanks so much, everybody, and I'll see you tomorrow. Bye.
