Doctors in insurance networks can't rely on personal reputation to get referrals. Whether a patient can actually see you depends on their insurance plan and which providers are in-network, not on whether they were recommended.

Who do you recommend for your general practitioner or family doctor? I get asked those questions all the time. But what really dictates a lot more in the industry is who's their insurance provider and who takes what. That really is what dictates in the insurance model as to whether or not you're gonna be highly referable.
