How NuBrakes Matches Supply & Demand For Providing Mobile Brake Repair Services

NuBrakes schedules mobile brake repairs by balancing urgency, technician location, and job value. About 20% of customers need same-day service, 60% want next-day, and 20% can wait 2-3 days. Higher-margin jobs justify longer travel distances.

So when it— if someone, I guess, is requesting a slot for brake service, what are some of the variables within that as far as time period, location, some of those kind of considerations from a marketplace level on your end?
The time in which they need that service done, right? Urgency. So for us, about 20% of our jobs are what we would call same-day jobs. About 60% are next-day jobs. And then about the remaining 20% is like 2 to 3 days out. And those ones that are 2 to 3 days out are usually at the preference of the customer, not because we're unavailable. So certainly when they want it done is a key criteria. The location has a big influence on whether we can actually get to them or not, right? So we might have an open slot tomorrow morning, but we can't get to that customer if they're like an hour away from the other slots that are going to fall around that morning slot for that technician. So, um, the location on a micro level is quite important in, in relation to the other appointments on that schedule, effectively. Um, also the, like, the, you know, we could broadly call it like the quality of the job. So what is our expected, you know, average order value on this job and profit margin on this job? If it's, you know, a $1,500 job, that's going to make us $800. Well, maybe we actually are willing to drive, you know, an hour in comparison to we're not going to do that for the $250 job. So the quality of the job is a key criteria as well. So in summary, like, when does the person— when does the customer need it done? Where are they located at? And what is the quality of their job?
