The Lawtrades Managed Marketplace Experience (Ashish Chat Clip)

LawTrades connects enterprise legal departments with vetted freelance lawyers through a managed marketplace. A dedicated sales team helps clients post jobs, then the platform matches them with lawyers based on skills and career goals. The company handles matchmaking, interviews, and project management while automating time tracking and payouts.
What is that experience like when they come to LawTrades and then finding that kind of the legal talent that they need?
Yeah. So we have a sales team that their sole job is to really evangelize the company and get us in front of legal departments from bigger companies. And when they actually need us, what they do is they'll post a job. They could do it right on our website. We approve that job, and from there different folks start applying for that role. They're able to see the payout, they're able to see the scope, the duration, all that good stuff. And we target those jobs to our supply side in a very curated niche way that aligns with their career goals, their skill sets, etc. And, you know, we connect both sides together. Eventually, uh, they'll go through some sort of interview process or vetting process with our talent, and then at that point we work out an agreement with them to, uh, get them onboarded onto LawTrades.
Got it. So, so you, you do have some kind of like management layers that, uh, as a marketplace?
Yeah, yeah, absolutely. It's, it's so crucial, especially in the early days, like, um, to have that high touch. You know, we, we kind of swear by it, especially when your customers are, you know, the customers you're trying to get are know, you want them to spend a lot, right? So you have to really like learn about their needs, get in the trenches with them, really grow with them, learn with them, et cetera. So yeah, we're very hands-on even now. You know, there's a way for people to keep track of their time, manage their payouts, view different opportunities that we have on the site. So even now it's very, it's still very hands-on with how we treat our customers and our supply side. And we try to automate whatever we could in the process. It's You know, just very tedious and repetitive.
Yeah, certainly. So, you know, I was actually going to ask— that was going to be one of my next questions, you know, after that kind of like initial, I guess we could say, like match, right? Like, what is that process like, you know, when they go through kind of working together, that engagement, and as a marketplace, maybe some of the, you know, points along the way that you add value?
Yeah, so when both sides get matched, you know, a client will receive like a shortlist of different folks that we think are a really good fit for the role. They'll have an easy way to schedule interviews with those options, and at that point they let us know who they want to move forward with, and we're building out really good automations around that. After that, the client is more or less connected with whoever they're working with, and with our marketplace, for the most part, they're hiring these folks with the intention of using them every single week, if not every single month, if not for 6 months or a year. So that's how they use us. And, you know, a lot of people in the early days would say, hey, like, what's just stopping them from going around you permanently and just taking them off the platform and working them— working with them directly? And what we found is, you know, we found a customer segment that needs us for more than just one hire over the long term, right? So a company might hire one person now and might be working with them directly, but nature of the customers that we work with, they need multiple resources. So it's not uncommon for a company to have maybe like 10 to 15 people that they're utilizing through LawTrades at any given time.
