This is building your money machine, where we teach you how to master your money, eliminate financial stress so you can live a life of choice. Think of it as your financial education with a side of sarcasm and a whole lot of heart. And I'm your host, Mel Abraham. And listen, when I started this thing out, I thought that I was going to be knee deep in spreadsheets as an accountant in a corner office, not talking to people. But in the end, fast forward 30 years and working with people as a money mentor, as a financial expert, as an entrepreneur, I have learned the hard way and sometimes the fun way, that money without meaning is like running on a treadmill. Get sweaty, get tired, but you never get anywhere. All right, so here's the deal. In this episode, I'm going to show you why the world's quietest millionaires stack their habits, how they do it and play the long game so they can choose purpose over parading. Yep, we're going to bust the mist. We're going to poke a little fun at a Lambo here and there and the Lambo culture. But we're going to do it so you can have the life that you want. All right, let's do this.
All right, let's start with this. What do Warren Buffett and Kim Kardashian have in common? Yeah, I mean, it's obvious they're both wildly wealthy, but let's be honest. Only one of them is still living in the modest house that they bought in the 1950s. And I'm not sure, but he might even still be driving a car with roll down windows. See, today, I don't want to talk about fame. I don't want to talk about fortune. I don't want to talk about flaunting it all over social media. I want to talk about something that is far more powerful and that is building wealth that whispers. And it whispers while it works hard for you behind the scenes while you sleep seven days a week. Okay, this is for those of you that, that don't need the spotlight to shine, who understand that real wealth isn't loud, it's liberating, it's freeing. So why does it matter? Why would, why would someone want to be what I call a quiet millionaire? Well, let's be real. Why not show it off? The, the watch, the house, the yacht. It's all tempting. It's. I mean, it really is. But. But why not? Well, here's what I've seen with over three decades with work, behind the curtain, behind the scenes of wealth and working with the truly wealthy, they play a very different game. And that game actually allows them to play the game at a much bigger level than people even know. And the first thing is that they are free from emotional pressures. They have emotional freedom. There isn't a pressure to impress. There's an impression to the neighbor. Got the jack. The next Denali. I got to get the next Denali. There isn't this one upsmanship. There isn't that pressure for that. There isn't a thing where they feel like they have to pretend or perform. They just live. It's one of the reasons I say that we always start our financial plans and the work that we do with the vision for your life. What is your vision for your life? Not someone else's, not social media's, not your parents, not your siblings, but you. Let's live that one. That's what you're here to do. The other thing that I think they realize is that they have financial security. And they have security because they've reduced the exposure to scams, to.
Hackings and to stress, to lifestyle, inflation, all the things. By putting it all out there in a big way, you expose yourself. You open yourself up to the possibility for scammers to get ahold of you, for people to come after you. And at the same time, if you're in constant comparison trying to outpace some of the people around you because of how it looks from the Outside, then you're under constant stress and your lifestyle is under constant inflation and scope creep. It is constantly growing, which puts more pressure on your finances. It puts more pressure on your wealth. See, quiet millionaires don't concern themselves with that. The other thing that happens is that they have better privacy and peace. They get to live on their terms. Not on Instagrams, not on social medias, not on the medias, not on anyone else's. They're private and everything. And then the last, I think, thing that happens with quiet millionaires is that they have legacy with a purpose. They make a quiet impact that often runs deeper and lasts longer. We have this dear man that we just lost way too early. He was very young, he was in his 60s to cancer in our neighborhood. And he's a guy. I didn't know much about him other than he would walk his dogs. He was really great with our dogs, really friendly. And he. Unfortunately, his cancer came back and he passed away prematurely from it. Unbeknownst to me, he was quietly supporting so many causes in at the University of California of Irvine UCI, which is where all my medical is. So I'm very familiar with it to the point that they created some things in his honor because of how much impact he had. He never wanted a name on a building. He never wanted any of that stuff. He just wanted the impact. And so I think that there's a lot of quiet millionaires that we don't realize are having tremendous impact because they don't want to be recognized. So if you're here to build wealth, if you're here to do it without selling your soul and to have peace of mind, let's talk about how quiet millionaires actually do it. How do they do that in a way that they have peace, they have the life they want. They have the impact and the legacy that they envision. Okay, well, I think there's a couple of habits, and the first one is this. And it may be shocking to you, but live below your means always. You'd be shocked how many millionaires still clip coupons, not because they have to, but because they value their freedom more than they value the flexing of the financial muscle. Do I look for a deal? Always. Heck, before I order anything online, I always search for a promo code. Why not? If they're going to give me 10, 20% off, 30% off, why not? Here's the thing. When your lifestyle grows with your income, you're not building wealth. You're just building stress. You're building a brighter brand of stress. A brighter brand of expenses. Living below your means is the key to having the margin to build the wealth and do the things you want. Now, let me clarify something. Living below your means isn't deprivation. It's design. Okay, so I'm not saying to deprive yourself from the things you enjoy. Lord knows we don't deprive ourselves from the things that we enjoy. But we don't get pushed into doing things that we don't enjoy just to kind of keep up with the Joneses. Okay? I want margin in my life. I want options in my life. And overall, I want peace in my life. I don't care what it looks like from the outside. I care what I experience on the inside and what people that are around me experience. I'm not going to trade the appearance of wealth for the experience of freedom. And I don't think you should. I mean, think about this. Who's really winning? The guy who leased a Lambo and has a ton of credit card debt? Or the woman in yoga pants at Target who owns five rental properties and just paid cash for her daughter's college? Yeah, I think the answer is obvious. All right, leads me to habit number two. Automate your wealth. Quiet millionaires. Not only do they want to be quiet, they don't want to rely on willpower. They rely on systems. The more I can put processes and systems in place, the easier it is. Think about this. 80% of your wealth building comes from behaviors, habits, and decisions. 80%. Okay, if I can then go and automate my behaviors, habits, and decisions, how much better is that? Because now the majority of my wealth building is happening without me and my efforts. The quiet wealthy, they set up automatic transfers. It transfers from their. From their operating account to their investment account, to their savings account, to their sinking fund account. It automatically pays down their debt. It automatically pays their bill. They eliminate the friction with follow through. Because friction is the enemy of follow through. And so anytime you have to pull a lever, push a button, log in, do something. You're putting friction between you and your financial future. I want to remove that friction. If you don't think that that. That works, what do you think the credit card companies did? They gave you a card to remove the friction from the buying decision. So all you have to do is tap, swipe. You don't even have to do that. You have a phone, you click. So now.
You look at it and go, let's remove the friction from my wealth creation. More so than anything else. Think about your money like they're the employees you don't have to micromanage every dollar. When you have systems in place, you never have to. To worry about are they getting things done because it's automatically happening for you. Okay, so in a sense, it's set it and forget it. But I never want you to forget it. I want you to always check the pulse on the patient. But you don't have to watch your wealth 24 7. You don't have to check the time cards for your wealth. It's just building and working in the background. That leads me to habit number three. Habit number three, Prioritize assets over image. Okay, here's the rule. Assets first, aesthetics second. Quiet. Millionaires don't spend money to look rich. They spend money to become rich. Big difference. Big difference. A flashy car out there, that, that might impress the valet, but it isn't going to generate cash flow, especially if you finance the car over 67, eight years like they're trying to do now. A solid index fund or ETF or a piece of rental real estate that is producing income on an ongoing basis, that, that is impressive because that's going to give you the life you want. But not only is it going to give you the life you want, it's going to give it to you over and over and over again. Because that flashy car, you're going to have to replace it with another flashy car and it becomes this addiction, this dopamine hit that you have to do all the time. So. And if we're honest with ourselves, your future self actually doesn't care how you looked on Instagram in 2025. They care whether or not you gave them the gift of freedom in the future and the gift of presence in the present. So I look at it and say, ask yourself this before you make a big purchase. Is this a status play or a strategy move? Strategy move. Let's go for it. Status play. Maybe we should reconsider it. All right, leads me to habit number four. Guard your privacy. This one's big. Okay? Quiet. Millionaires, they know that their money attracts attention. And not all of it is good. Okay? It's kind of crazy. At one point, I used to do business management, and I was, I was doing business management for people in the music industry. And I was one of my clients. She was getting ready to go to Hawaii. She stopped at a store. She was in her convertible Mercedes back then. And she rear ends someone. She gets out of the car, she dials her cell phone, calls me, tells the guy that she just rear ended. This is my Business manager. Talk to him. He'll get it all taken care of. All right. What do you think? The guy she hit just saw dollar signs. Dollar signs. It attracted attention, you know? So here's the thing. I think that we need to be smart about it. Especially in today's environment with AI, with the hacks and the scams that are going on, we don't need unwanted notoriety or attention. I once read about a guy who won $22 million in a lottery. He told his wife and he didn't tell anyone else, not even his kids. Why? Because he wanted the privacy protection. He wanted the privacy. He didn't want people coming to him for loans, people coming to him saying they got investments. He didn't want scammers trying to scam him. They didn't want any of it. So you don't need to make a public service announcement every time your net worth goes up. Keep it tight, keep it quiet. Celebrate quietly. Enjoy your life. The real flex is security and peace of mind. It's not a broadcast. You're building a money machine to serve you. Not to feed strangers opinions, but to serve you. Your causes, your missions, your family, the people you love. All right, habit number five. Avoid lifestyle, inflation. Or creepy. Here's the trap. You get a raise, you make more money. So you go and get a nicer car, you upgrade the house. Then suddenly, all of a sudden, country club dudes show up, and somehow you're still living paycheck to paycheck. You know, there's so many things that happen with this, is that as our income goes up, we tend to grow our life in a sneaky way. That inflation, that lifestyle inflation. And we can't figure out why I'm making so much more money. But I. I don't feel like I'm getting any further ahead.
This is why it's so instrumental to have the vision for your life, to plan it out with intention. Like my wife and I could order. Could afford a bigger home, a nicer home. But we live in a beautiful home. It's large on the beach. Why are we going to go somewhere else? Because we can afford it. No, this is what we need. This is what we love. We don't need to upgrade it. It's beautiful and it ain't cheap. Quiet. Millionaires don't fall for it. They stay in their lane. They stay anchored to their vision. They stay anchored to their values. And they, in fact, invest and spend their money based upon value and their values and not just their income. So it's not about spending More. It's about making sure that you're paying for the life that you choose. So you may need to save more, you may invest more. You may stay more focused on that journey to make it happen. Don't let your lifestyle outpace your purpose. That's when we get in trouble. All right, habit number six. Give generously, but quietly. I already told you about that friend that lived here. This one is home. The quiet millionaires I know are some of the most generous people you'll ever meet. And I know this is hard because the media has done a wonderful job at demonizing money, at demonizing the wealthy, demonizing the chosen few, and all that. They've never highlighted or hardly ever highlighted the generosity of someone. By and large, the majority of the people that I know that are wealthy are extremely generous with their money, with their time, with their wisdom, with their knowledge. And they don't look for applause. They look to know that it mattered. That's all. And it's because they can. They have a choice, and they can make a choice. And so they believe that the wealth is the paintbrush. It's the tool, not the trophy. And when we start to parade the wealth, we're making it a trophy and not a tool for good. You won't find their names on a bunch of buildings, but you'll find their fingerprints on scholarships. You'll find their fingerprints on shelters. You'll find their fingerprints on lives changed. Okay, tell you this. There's a different kind of ROI that comes with giving without needing recognition. That leads me to habit number seven. Play the long game. The loudest, loudest voices on online promise overnight riches. I don't. Because overnight riches leads to overnight poverty. It comes in fast, and it goes out fast. Quiet millionaires, they're playing a different game. They understand the power of compounding. They understand the power of deliberate, intentional, consistent results. And they understand the power of thinking in decades and generations instead of weeks and years. They understand when I invest at 25, it will multiply exponentially by the time I hit 45, by the time I hit 55. They're not here for sprints. They're here for marathons. Let me put it this way. You can chase the fast money, or you can build the forever money. I want you to build the forever money. Quiet millionaires, they build forever money. It's boring. It's not an adrenaline rush, but it's consistent. It may be slow, but it's wildly effective. All right, so here's the question for you. Which of these habits are you going to embrace today. Do you really want to be a loud millionaire? Do you want to be a quiet millionaire? Do you want someone that is having an impact and doesn't necessarily need the recognition? Do you want to be more, more at peace, less recognized, less susceptible to hacks, scams and other things? Then maybe take the quiet path. But make sure you lived your life the rich way. Because it's not someday, it's not once I make it, it's now. Your financial freedom doesn't start with a windfall, it starts with a mindset. It starts with systems, it starts with clarity. It starts with a process. Because your legacy, remember, isn't something you leave behind, an accumulation of stuff. It's something you live each and every day. And quiet millionaires know this. They know that they're not chasing the attention, they're creating the freedom. And so can you. So I hope that you start to look at things and say, I want to follow the processes of the money machine. I want to follow the wealth priority ladder. I want to build the wealth. But more importantly, I want to build a rich life. I want to build a rich life that is of your own design, of your own vision, in alignment with your values, congruent with what your calling is. So now we build the finances. So it allows you to have a life of choice where you wake up each and every day, put your feet on the floor and make a choice. What are you going to do that day? How are you going to show up, who are you going to impact and how are you going to affect them? That's, I think, true wealth. That's, I think, true richness. That's what I want for you. So I hope that this helps. I hope that you'll start to think about these things. Let me know which habit kind of hits you, which one you want to embrace now, and what your next step is. I'd love to hear from you. And if you haven't done so already, subscribe, stay with me and maybe share this out with a friend. Let's do this.
