Mel Abraham warns that accepting AI answers without questioning them erodes critical thinking and stifles innovation. He contrasts older researchers who built knowledge before using AI with a newer generation that starts with AI as their default tool, risking poor decisions and surrendered responsibility.

When we turn around and we start to remove our critical thinking faculties and accept what AI gives us, forgetting AI slop and all that stuff, say you, you put in good prompts and you tested and everything, but did you truly ask the question, how does this work? Does this make it right? Is this correct? Back in the day, now there is a generation That ran a whole lot of miles, that did research, did the work, and now AI is coming into their world. I'm part of that generation. Okay? So when I step into AI, I bring that experience and that journey and all the other stuff that I did to build it into it. But then there's another generation that don't have. That runway. They don't have the experience. They've never done that. And they're starting with AI. And AI can quickly become their go-to for a thought process. And when we lose our ability to critically question, critically think, then we lose innovation, we lose growth, we start to make bad choices, and we don't understand why because We relinquish responsibility to the 6 inches between our ears to some artificial intelligence tool.
