Traditional to-do lists and AI task automation create false productivity by letting you chase dopamine hits from small wins instead of solving real problems. The speaker argues you need systems and new solutions, not endless task completion.
Your to do list is a trap designed to keep you busy, and AI is making that worse. It's not improving it. Hear me out. So you get a small dopamine hit every single time you complete a task? Every single time I do something successful, my brain releases dopamine. Okay, well, AI allows us to be able to send off automatic responses to emails. It allows us to create those images using systems that we've already built. But there is a significant difference between productivity and basically being lazy. And you shouldn't consider systematic things that you've already put in place to help your day as the issue. The way you should gauge your productivity is by what you actually build and systems that you develop and problems you solve on a daily basis. That's exactly how you need to be moving in 2025 to ensure that you don't allow those small dopamine hits from very basic flight flows to make you feel like what you used to do in your job is now as efficient as what you can be today. Because you aren't. Unless you are solving new problems and reframing the AI space in your brain to be able to tackle one or two new issues every single day, you're going to fall behind in the race.
