The video narrates how the household microwave oven originated from a World‑II radar experiment at Raytheon. Engineer Percy Spencer was testing a magnetron—a component that generates microwave radiation for radar—when the heat from the device melted a chocolate bar in his pocket. Curious, Spencer placed popcorn kernels near the magnetron and observed them pop instantly. Recognizing the heating potential of microwaves, he demonstrated the effect to Raytheon, which then built a large enclosure around the magnetron. This prototype evolved into the modern microwave oven, now a ubiquitous kitchen appliance worldwide.
