Michael Horn and Speaker A explain why technology choices come last in course design: define what you want students to learn first, then pick tools that support it. Module 5 covers selecting software, choosing hardware and infrastructure, and designing physical spaces for blended learning.
Welcome back to our MOOC on blended learning. We've covered a lot of topics from the student experience into the teacher experience. Thought about how do you redesign whole schools? And this week we're going to start to get into the nitty gritty of how you actually choose software, pick your hardware and infrastructure and then design your space for blended.
Learning. Now, you'll notice we put this topic of technology towards the end of our course because we think that's the way this process should work. You, you begin with the educational outcomes you have in mind and then you figure out the technology that facilitates it rather than the other way around.
That's exactly right. But let's not think that these decisions are unimportant. They're critical to getting your blended learning model ultimately correct. So this week we're going to dive into three topics. First, choosing the software. Second, we'll think about the hardware and infrastructure. And finally we'll conclude with actually looking at your space to facilitate high quality blended learning. So let's dive in.
