16 dogs rescued from Texas and brought to Virginia š¶

In this liveāstream, pilot Michael Schneider (founder of Pilots to Rescue) and his coāpilot Daniel Baumel coordinate the arrival of 12ā16 dogs that were flown from Texas to the Manassas/Chantilly Jet Center in Virginia. The dogs, sourced by Athens Animal Rescue, include a mix of ownerāsurrendered pets and animals rescued from hoarding situations. Local rescue group To the Rescue (Springfield, Virginia) receives the dogs for foster placement and eventual adoption. The stream walks viewers through the unloading process, introduces individual dogs (e.g., Calypso, Dana, Garbanzo, Fluffy, Yoda, Yogi), discusses their backgrounds, and highlights the quick adoption timeline (typically a few weeks). Participantsāincluding Brittany, a founder of To the Rescue, and various volunteersātalk about foster needs, adoption kits, and the logistics of moving crates and cleaning. The broadcast also promotes donation avenues (text āpilotsā to 50155, pilotsrescue.org, Amazon Smile, merchandise) and showcases new branded gear. Throughout, the tone is informal, enthusiastic, and communityāfocused, emphasizing collaboration among pilots, animalārescue groups, and volunteers to save animals and streamline transport.

Live.
Okay, where do you want to put her? Because she's not going anywhere here.
Uh, hi everyone, we just got to, uh, where are we? Manassas, Virginia. We're in Manassas, Virginia, and weā these dogs originally were from Texas, uh, and Athens Animal Rescue drove them from Texas to meet us in Virginia. And we have 12 dogs today, and we're the Pilots to Your Rescue because the group that's picking up the animals is called To the Rescue. So let's get eyes on these guys. There's Calypso.
Yeah.
All right, we have Chiquita.
What do we know? Do we know anything about these dogs?
Um, some of them have stories. Um, I know you've posted, I think, two. Um, I think it was Haze and Cornell you posted about.
Um, so a lot of these dogs, some of them are going to be owner surrenders, so just people, you know, who they didn't have the means to keep them anymore. Some of these animals are coming from hoarding situations, so we're able to take them out of those situations and find them good forever homes. So yeah.
Great. You ready to find a home?
Awesome. And how long will it take for these guys to get adopted, you think?
Usually only a couple weeks.
All right.
They go pretty quickly.
Okay, great. All right. Awesome. Okay, who else do we got?
Yeah, let's getā come on.
I'm going to take Calypso in real quick, make sure she's not on the tarmac. I'll be right back.
There you go. Daniel, how was the flight today? Daniel Baumel, copilot, Pilots to Rescue.
Great, great flight today. We made it here safe. We're just starting to get the dogs out and, um, looking forward to getting them on, on their way.
Great flight though.
Awesome. Good.
Not bad.
I think we have Dana here.
Dana isā yeah, yeah, that one.
Is thatā
Ding dong!
āa German Shepherd. All right.
You're welcome, Stillwell. Which local shelter? The shelter, not to be confused with us, is called To the Rescue. And you guys are located in Manassas also, right? We are in Springfield, Virginia. Springfield, Virginia. To the Rescue. Thank you. Yeah. And this is our first time working with these guys. And they came out in full force. There's 3 of you here. Yeah, for sure. Thank you.
Yeah. Is Dana? Yes.
Dana is full shepherd or part shepherd?
I think she's a mix.
She's a mix German Shepherd. Too tight, just enough that sheā
yeah, she won't get out. Oh, this doesn't have any more. Oh, it's got no more holes. We need something tighter. All right, for now let me get at least this one.
All right, all right.
She's a year old.
She's beautiful. She's adorable. Yeah. Hello! That's Dana.
Is that one too big?
Hi, Mama! I know, I know. This will work for now.
Oh yeah, for sure. Just to get her out.
Dana is ready to go.
Attach this.
Let's see. There we go. Got to step this.
Yeah, if anybody ever wants to foster, we always need fosters on the East Coast. West Virginia. We can't do what we do without you fosters. Great, right, Dana? Somebody's gonna love you until you go somewhere.
Perfect. Thank you. Yeah. Okay, have a great life, Dana.
Come on, Mama.
Say thank you, Pilots to the Rescue. She's gonna get big.
Thank you to the rescue.
And then, is this Charlie and Chantel?
Yeah, little puppies. Did anyone try this one yet or no?
No, I don't think so.
She's gonna be small. I don't think this isā let's see, I think it's gonna be too big.
Uh, Southeast of Disorder asked, one plane with stops or plane changes? It was one plane with stops. So we flew starting in New York, then we stopped in New Jersey to pick up supplies, and then we flew down to Virginia. We met the group from Texas, and then we flew to DC, and then we're gonna fly back up to New York. It's 6 hours of flight, so we save these drivers from Texas quite a bit of time on the highways. Oh, thank you.
Do you want to just carry this one, Danny?
Just because I don't have a collar right now. Which one is this?
This one. There's Charlie and Chantelle, I think, right?
So this oneā
see, are you a boy or a girl?
There you go.
That looks like a girl. Here you go.
You guys have a great logo.
Thank you. Yeah, the flying dog. Hi, you're a cutie. Which one is this?
This is Chantelle.
Chantelle, you don't want to step on this hot ground.
Uh, Stillwell 366.
Yes, all the dogs are from Texas.
We have a collar for her. Oh no, is thisā
this is the smallest this goes?
I think so. Let me see this one.
Southeast, thank you for doing the highway rescue transport. You guys are the real heroes. Heroes of pavement. We're heroes of sky.
Hi, Mama.
Texas does need a lot of help. Absolutely.
Especially the rural areas. Yeah. Thank you. Yeah. Oh, this guy's a little scared.
Come on. That's all right. That's okay. You had a long trip. Long trip.
I'm gonna grab you. Maybe. It's okay, you went to poo poo. I'mma clean you.
I'll be back. All right. Hey Brittany, do you have the wipes?
Maybe inside.
Hi guys, Michael Schneider, the pilot from Pilots to Rescue, founder. Thanks for joining us today. Once again, we're here in Chantilly Jet Center at Manassas, Virginia Airport, and we flew about 6ā we'll end up flying about 6 hours today. We met this group, Athens Animal Rescue. They drove from Texas and met us in Virginia, and then we flew here to D.C., where they'll end up being fostered and adopted out with a group called To the Rescue in Springfield, Virginia. So we've been saying we're the pilots to their rescue. We have some water. Yeah. Thank you, Southeast. That's very nice of you. Hi, Stillwell. Brittany, who do we have? Brittany? This is Mung.
Aww. And Mung has a brother named Garbanzo.
Oh, cutie pie. Very sweet. Hello. Say hello. This is the brother.
Oh, this is, uh, Garbanzo. Garbanzo. Hi, Garbanzo. Hi, bud. Oh, look at that face. Look at that face. Such cuties. They'll go and No time. Yeah, thank you, Aaron. Uh, still, while we, we don't fly down to Mexico, but maybe in the future. All right, cutie pies. We got a Pyrenees in here. Yeah. That's Fluffy. Fluffy wants to get out. Yeah, well, we've had a Pyrenees that was 100 pounds, remember?
Oh wow, yeah, we just did the one, or no, we got him in a, in a crate. We saw the full load that day. Yeah, check out these guys right here.
Thanks Cheryl for reminding everybody, if you want to donate, you can text the word pilots to 50155. I had difficulty adding the donation link to this live stream. It was not letting me added. You can also go to pilotsrescue.org and make a donation on our website. We have many ways to donate, not just financial, but we have all kinds of wishlists and Amazon Smile, and you can volunteer as an influencer. So check it out, pilotsrescue.org, or text the word pilots to 50155 to make a donation, even if it's just a dollar. If you can't donate, you can share this live stream Um, or you can share one of our posts. Thank you so much. We're going to continue here unloading the dogs from Texas.
You gotta check these guys out.
Get in there. Yep.
Oh, look at these guys, they're ready to come out. Yeah. Uh, 53 Lolo, our website is pilotstotherescue.org. It's all spelled out, pilots T-O-T-H-E rescue.org.
Can I just run in with my binder to get a couple people out of here? Just so theyā
there are like people picking them up to take them. Oh, okay. It's up to you.
Yeah, cuz we haven't purchased a van yet. That's in the, in the works. So we have like all our fosters, all our adopters in the lounge over there. So we've been taking them and handing them to people.
Okay, got it. Yeah, let meā if you're not in a rush, Michael, just 2 minutes.
Sure, sure. You want to get the adoption kits out of the nose so we don't forget that? Uh, yeah, do you lock it? I don't know. Oh yeah, yeah, you're right. Yeah. Brittany, how long have you been working with To The Rescue?
So I actually started To The Rescue back in 2004.
Oh, you're the founder? Awesome. I'm the founder. Yeah. Did you, did you apply as an influencer today? Did you fill out a form saying you wanted to go on a rescue flight with us, or maybe that was someone else?
I didn't, but I'd love to. Oh, okay. Yeah, absolutely. Cool.
That'd be great. Awesome. Well, I'm sure you guys have a good following andā Yeah, absolutely. It'd be great to bring you along.
Yeah, I would love to. I think this is a great mission. So you started, you said 2018?
2014. '14, oh, 1 year before us.
Yeah, but I've been doing rescue, oh, much longer than that. Okay. So yeah, it's a passion of mine, um, and yeah, I love it.
Well, great work and thank you. Thank you so much. Sure.
Thank you for what you do too.
Of course, happy to do it. Daniel, what's up?
We are waiting for people. I think they said that there's like 7 foster families in there, so they're just kind ofā
it sounds like all of our fosters and potential adopters are all inside. They would only let a certain amount of us out, soā
okay, gotcha.
Yeah, okay.
So we got a little intermission here. Um, they can only take so many dogs inside the Jet Center. They have their fosters and families waiting for them. And, uh, oh, hi Sasha! We have Sasha B joined our live stream. She was an influencer with us last week. Thank you, Stillwell. Thank your sister for us. We go to North Carolina all the time. Yeah, so I think we're gonna take out Fluffy now, which is a Pyrenees, right?
Oh my gosh, she was really good. She was so good getting in there.
That's where we need the ramp. It's a big one. Yeah, we should have brought it for this That's right. Daniel, there's a couple crates that are really dirty. We might want to just gift them to them given our situation becauseā Definitely the one with Yoda and Yoda. Yeah, it's going to be hard for us toā But we could takeā
We can still wipe down the other one though.
Yeah, but there's another one here. I think this one. We're going to gift a couple crates to you guys if you don't mind. At the risk of you having to clean them, butā because we're dropping the plane off somewhere and we don'tā
I might need your guys' assistance.
Oh yeah, yeah, for sure.
She's big. Beautiful. I think she had a CBD treat as well.
She's all mellow. You all right?
Um, would it be helpful?
We can't really get it out though.
Hey, do you want to take the wholeā oh, you got crates on top. Taking it out, she'll come out.
There she goes.
Fluffy, right? Fluffy. Fluffy. Beautiful, beautiful color. Hi, Fluffy. Oh.
Check her foster families inside.
Oh, oh, and these are adoption kits we have for you guys. We only had 10 of them, but you can give them to whichever families you want. Perfect. Um, and it's all just Pilots of Rescue branded stuff. Okay, awesome. Yeah, sure.
Wait, wait. Who do we got here, Daniel?
You remember?
Oh, this one is either Cornell or Hayes.
And we already gave them, looks like, the paperwork, right?
Yeah, we did.
All right, great.
Come here, pretty.
This might be kind of tight, but do you think you could add some slack to that by any chance? You want to hold? She just wants to be petted.
I think this is a heat. Yeah, heat.
Come on. Hi.
He's happy, happy to be out of that.
Oh, I can't blame him. Yeah, let's see. Skateboarder, you can tell energy right here. Okay, I know, I know, I know, I know.
Okay, I've already seen a leash for this one.
Oh, we have one up front. In the front?
It wasā where is it? In theā
it's in, it's in the cubby in the front, like where all the pens are.
Yeah, yeah, you good?
Okay, good boy, good boy, come here, good boy.
Okay, you're free, go. All right, so what are we thinking? That one's the, the dookie one there. Yeah, this adorable group.
Just takeā we could just take the whole dookie cage out and give them the whole thing.
Yeah, unless they have more.
Uh, dookie is code word for poop, and it does happen sometimes. They poop in transport. So, uh, these little guys, uh, we're gonna gift the crate to the group to the rescue. We're going to be dropping the plane off to get a little bit of work done on the plane. So we don't want to leave these dookie crates inside. 53 Lola, we, we did, we do cats all the time. We did 12 cats this past week, but no cats on board today. As you can see, this is a giant game of Tetris in this plane. Limited amount of space, but we get as many in as we can. Daniel's getting out the two puppies who made the dookie.
There we go.
All right guys, there we go. These guys are Yoda and Yogi. Yoda and Yogi. Yoda and Yogi. All right, we'll get you out of here soon. I know it's stinky. Stinky in there. I know, I know, you're all excited. Long way from Texas. Oh, thanks Aaron. Yeah, the Saratoga has good, uh, good load capacity, good useful load, but when we, we were leaving, uh, Virginia Highlands, there was a 4,000 density altitude, so We took a little bit less fuel and we did a short-field takeoff. Still, while, uh, I don't know, we just handed off all the paperwork, but Athens is a quality outfit in Texas, so all these animals have the recommended shots, they're the right age, we use best practices in transport. Well, welcome, 53 Lolo. Thanks for joining us. And who do we have here? These are more pups.
These are the G puppies. I think it's likeā
oh, G puppies.
Gabe, Gabriel, Giovanna, and like another one.
What do you have to say for yourself?
Anything? They seem happy just to be at their final destination. So chill. Yes, these guys are a little bit more rambunctious, wouldn't you say? Oh yeah, he likes the sticker. He's eating the sticker. And that's it. This isā oh, there's more in there. There's no more in there? Oh, check all the crates, see if there's any other Dukies. I cleaned up some of the Dukies. Okay, so which one are we gifting them? Just this one? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay, I need to clean down the impact a little bit.
All right.
Yeah, we're going to give you this whole crate cuz there's poop in there if you want to just carry it in. Sorry about that, but you're doing us this. At least you get a nice wire crate. See you guys. Bye.
Thank you.
All right, and then there were four.
And then there were four. All right, I think they want to come out.
Want to get one out?
Let's get one out. Want to get one out? Sure. You have a leash orā no, they're, they're little. Oh, okay.
Just hold on.
Yeah, and then we'll end the live stream.
Whichever one comes out first, I guess this one. Come here. They're very chill. Very chill puppies.
Get them on the roof.
Yeah, we don't know the name of this one though, do we? Uh, we know it's, it starts with a G. Beautiful. Adorable.
Yeah, look at that cutie. Oh my goodness, you guys are adorable.
Hi. Hi. Hello.
I think he's a little shell-shocked from the long trip from, uh, Texas.
I think I would be too if I was him.
Oh, look at that face.
Look at that face.
Is it him? This is him.
Well, I think we're going to end it there, Daniel. Anything you want to tell the Instagram world?
No, just another, another great mission in the books. A lot of people involved today. A lot of logistics had to be planned, but obviously you did a lot of that, Michael, and the teams here have been amazing. And it's great that all these guys are going to get home. So 16 dogs added to PTTR's total.
And nice hat, by the way. We have all new merchandise on our website. Yes. So go there, pick up some merch. Yeah, they've seen my hat. Yeah, but you got the nice trucker hat.
I love this one, it's so comfortable, it breathes. It's got the new stitching, which I think we agree is like higher quality than what we've had. Better embroidery. Yeah, so definitely worth, uh, worth donating to the cause and getting some good merch out of it, you know.
Absolutely. Yeah, we got it in our Instagram shop, we also have a Facebook shop, on our website. Oh yeah, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you everybody, really appreciate everything. Please share this post and let people know about the good work that Pilots to Rescue does. It does help when you share. Of course, we love your donations. We love when you buy our merch, but not everybody can afford to do that. We understand it's been a difficult year, but we're going to keep doing what we love. We're not going to stop and we're going to rescue over 500 animals this year. No problem. Thank you. We're going to get to 1,000! Get to 1,000 ideally. That's right. Yeah. Anything you want to say before we sign off? Thank you.
Thank you everyone in the rescue world community. Um, we couldn't do it without, you know, people that just, you know, want to give great homes, their time, volunteers, drivers, supplies, everything.
So thank you to everyone.
All right, I love it. You're a cutie.
These guys are insane. Do we know whatā this is the G litter, right? Okay.
Do we have
