Uh, I don't know.
Michael Schneider here at Moore County Airport in Southern Pines, North Carolina. Another beautiful day for rescue, uh, and today we got 7 dogs from Moore County, North Carolina going to A New Chance Animal Rescue. It's a foster-based rescue in Westchester County, New York, and, uh, today's mission is sponsored by Cuddly. I'm not going to say what that means, but you can figure it out. Thanks to Cuddly for all their donations and doing crowdsourcing for much-needed pet supplies like food and crates. Hi, Alyssa, welcome. So it's much, much needed. Today on board we have two influencers with us, and Rick from Maverick Pet Transport helped us on the ground here. Rick's been a great resource here in Moore County, bringing the dogs to the veterinarian that treats them, I believe, pro bono. And then we're bringing them up back to New Jersey for A New Chance Animal Rescue. What's up, Richard? Welcome. So, uh, pretty smooth flight today, but we had a pretty stiff headwind, so it took about 3.5 hours to get down here, which means we'll be hightailing it back. Hi, Katie, welcome. Uh, we're doing a Giving Tuesday fundraiser. That's this Tuesday, November 30th. Please help us reach our goal by donating If you can't donate, share the post. Facebook will match a certain amount of the donations, but you have to donate right at 8 AM because the money runs out. So again, this Tuesday, November 30th, we have a Giving Tuesday fundraiser. You'll see it, it should pop up on this live feed. But if you donate right at 8 AM, we can take advantage of some of that money that Facebook is offering, and they got plenty of it, I'm sure. Hi Janie, you're welcome. Hi Millie. Hi Carol. Welcome Carol. So let's check out what's going on here. We're going to start loading up the, the dogs. 7 dogs from North Carolina, Moore County, North Carolina. Hi John.
Shelters are backed up and, uh, so our rescue systems just can't—
it's one of the pups because they're unsure of the economy. Yeah, it's another guy, looks like a German Shepherd mix. You can tell from the ears. Hi, Carol.
So we, we did very well over COVID adopting dogs, um, but we took the time to make sure that they were going to the city.
Looks like a pity mix. Nothing's ever a guarantee, but you look excited. Are you ready to go on your flight?
I try.
Awesome. Rick, what's going on? Welcome.
How are you today?
What do we got today? 7 dogs, 7 puppies. All right.
Nice day out today. It was 28 degrees last night.
I know, it's not even— it's not even—
you know, you're from New York.
Talk to the people on Facebook.
Hey, I'm Daniela. I'm from New Jersey. I'm here helping Mike and Pilots to the Rescue help these wonderful puppies, dogs get a new home in over in New Jersey in the tri-state area.
Awesome. How was the flight?
It was amazing. Quick, good flight. Smooth, very smooth.
Awesome.
Thanks for joining us.
Hi, I'm Michelle Avila. I'm a teacher, and I actually wanted to do this because this is something I see myself doing in the future, rescuing puppies. Um, the flight was a little rough for me. It is my first time flying the small plane, but it was great, and I'm excited to be part of this.
Great, thank you for joining us.
Thank you.
All right, let's look— let's load up the dogs. You guys gonna help Rick?
Yeah.
Okay, who's the first one, Rick?
This is Baxter.
Baxter. Baxter's the largest dog we have today. Baxter is a German Shepherd mix, right?
Yep.
You can tell from those ears. It looks like Australian Shepherd, Australian Shepherd, German Shepherd.
Some of them are very friendly, and you'll meet one that's probably not going to give us a hard time. Yeah, but all these dogs have been walked this morning, and we don't feed them, so they don't get sick in flight. Um, I give—
excited! Oh, look at that, he's like, I'm ready to make your own blanket. Yeah, wants his own blanket.
You got your own blanket.
All right, Baxter, let's get you up in there.
Let's get you up in the first crate there, buddy.
Rick's loading up Baxter in the first crate.
Come on, buddy.
All right, we'll let him do his thing and we'll get ready for the next one. Hi, Candace. Hi, Beth. Oh, Beth, I'm glad you're picking up today. We'll see you. We should be off the ground soon. Hey Jessica, hi Candace, Mary, Carol, welcome. That's for you, Rick. We got, uh, 20— I think it's some food from Cuddly. Cuddly is a sponsor of today's mission. I think you had some success with Cuddly too.
Absolutely, they are the best. Yeah, they are the best. My account manager is top-notch. She does a whole lot for us. Veronica Cuddly.
Oh, okay. Yeah, we've— we brought Rick just a little bit of food today. Uh, we got more of it back at the hangar and we just didn't have room to bring more. Uh, so thanks Cuddly for supporting us.
This is—
this is the one that's a little rough, huh?
Which one?
The one in the back.
When they get stressed like this, here's some of the other puppers.
Okay, it's okay.
I think he's 9 or 10 years old. By the way, November is National Adopt a Senior Pet Month. If you adopt a senior pet, 5 and older, dog or cat, in the US or Canada, you can get your adoption fees reimbursed by Stella and Chewy's. Stella and Chewy's is a big supporter of Pilots to Rescue during November, and you go to stellaandchewies.com/adopt. So, uh, you just submit your receipt for the adoption fee, verify that it's a senior animal, and they will reimburse you. Check it out. And we do have a senior dog on our flight today, so it's this guy who's barking up a storm. What's this guy's name? The older guy?
Birch. Birch.
Birch is 9 or 10, we believe.
Ready?
My God, look at this little cutie!
You ready? You ready?
You okay?
Yeah, he's, he's excited.
Good boy, good boy. It's okay.
So not so bad. Oh, that's the Anatolia mix.
That's a good boy.
Yeah, he's all right.
Relax, he's all right. You think he's all right?
What is he, 65 lbs?
Look at those eyebrows!
He is back of Michelle's shirt, says, uh, the best things—
he's very—
the best things in life are rescued. That's the back of our cuddly shirt, which is very true.
Let's hope we can get him in here.
All right, come on, he's a big boy. That's right, adopt, don't shop.
Yeah.
Hi Bonnie, what's up Randy?
Come on Connor, Connor, Connor, it's okay, I'm not gonna hurt you, okay?
I'm not gonna hurt you.
We'll see how this goes. Rick's a professional, he's got a lot of experience. He's strong too. You just picked that dog up like he was nothing.
Hang on, Connor.
All right, we'll let him do his thing. What do you think of these dogs, Daniela?
Oh my God, they're amazing.
They're beautiful. They need a good, good, good home.
Yeah, don't you want to adopt them all?
Yes, I wish. I wish I could take them all.
Wait until I have a huge house.
Yeah. Hey Steve. Hi Donna.
All right, so, uh, Birch.
Birch, we're putting in the orange, or is he too big? I guess Okay, is that, is that too small? You want to put a bigger crate there sideways?
Bigger one.
We got these here. This one might fit if you turn it. All right, okay. Birch is coming out. Birch is our senior pet today. I was telling everybody that Selling Chewies is reimbursing adoption fees for senior animals in the month of November. There's Birch. Hi, Birch.
Hi, do you have, uh, puppy pads in there?
We do.
I'm going to put this in there.
Yeah, the puppy pads, uh, on the side. Do you want those in here?
See, he's got—
Rick, you want these in there?
Right, a lot of—
you want how many? Just one. I'm going to put Oh, so you don't need that.
Okay.
Fleas and, um, not eating healthy.
Right.
They get demodex mange.
Yeah. Oh, he's so nice though. Yeah, but he's, uh, seems like a really nice boy.
They say 9 to 10, but I don't know, he doesn't look like he's— he's pretty active.
Yeah, well, the nice thing about senior pets is they won't go on your carpet or chew up your favorite shoes.
Right.
Yeah. All right, I got a 10-year-old German Shepherd.
Oh.
Your—
yours does that, huh? Well, everybody wants a puppy, but it's a lot of work. So consider adopting a senior dog. They'll be easy to acclimate into your home. And senior dogs only have a 25% chance of getting adopted, as opposed to younger dogs is 60%. So keep that in mind. They're going to have a higher euthanasia rate. You're really doing a great service to the rescue community and these wonderful, wonderful furry souls when you adopt a senior dog. And it won't cost you a thing in the month of November. So Birch is available to be adopted. You go to A New Chance Animal Rescue. They're in Westchester County, New York. They're a foster-based group, and you can adopt Birch. If you like the merch, you can purchase it from Pilots to the Rescue and support us.
Good boy.
Good boy.
We got 7 today.
That's the 3 worst ones.
All right, the 3 hardest ones to load. Now it gets easy.
Now we got— but now you got to put the seat in. We got 2 little ones.
All right, here, I'm gonna let you take over the Facebook Live while I put the seat in. You can talk.
All right, let's do this.
And one of these can go— you can put 2 there.
All right, now they're getting my seat ready. Okay, how many we have left?
Uh, 4.
4 left. All right, let's follow our friend here. Look at these beauts!
Hi, friend!
This is Eva.
Hi, Eva!
Good girl, good girl! Say hi! Your tail's going, I can feel it.
Yep, waggy wags! It's a little nervous. All right, let's see. All right, I'm going to show you the other one.
Hi! Hi!
Are you ready to come with us too? Are you ready? All right, I guess we have 3 left. This one and 2 over there. All right.
Puppies sometimes don't know.
Yeah, yeah, you got to pack them in there. Oh, you fit?
Yeah, should be right.
Eva, plenty of room. Going to bungee that to the top, right?
I'm like, can I carry one on my lap? And you want to hold the phone? Okay, just recording face. Want to see? Yeah, she's like wagging her tail. Oh, there's a bee there.
Hello!
Hey girl, come on! Come on.
Oh, both girls? Yes. And then what's her name?
Ella.
Eva and Ella. Oh, so cute. Yeah, this one's a little bit more like—
you mean big dog?
Yeah, look at those paws.
Oh, you're so pretty.
Odd colors. We don't normally see these colors in pit bulls.
Hi baby, you're going to come with us.
They're like Nervous.
Hi, baby. Yes, we're getting ready. We're going. We're about to go. Yes. Hi, love.
I don't know what her name is. You said this was the oldest, right?
Uh, this one is, yes.
Yeah. And that one, Gertie.
This is Gertie. Hi, Mary, we're going. Hi. Yes.
Hi baby. Yes, you're going to go.
Yes, don't worry.
Friendly.
Hi, then we have two left. A new champ. 7 dogs in there.
Isn't that crazy? 7.
Hi!
Yes, I'm coming.
I'm coming.
All right, we have 2 left. And then this one, name?
Uh, I'll let you know.
Let's see.
Kelly.
Kelly. Oh, there's a lot of girls. Yes, a lot of girls.
This is like a Yorkie— not a Yorkie mix.
This is—
well, maybe.
Yeah, it's a terrier because of the hair. Yeah, yeah.
We see a lot of these down here.
Yeah. How old do we know?
Uh, I don't, not offhand.
I don't know.
She's probably 5, 6.
Yeah, the teeth.
7.
Yeah.
Is that the last one?
The hair.
One more.
You got the big one.
Winston, we're just going to tether.
He's just a puppy. I mean—
oh, okay, he'll go on your lap. Okay, then you—
yeah, he's just nervous.
He's just— he's all right.
You just—
you got Missy Holly said, I love this organization, thank you.
Fit one of them.
Yeah, I want to take pictures too. Uh, all right guys, one second. I want to take pictures.
Will this one fit? Well, I don't know if he'll fit in that. Okay, or do you want to— I don't know if you got enough room to turn him. I mean, he can probably lay in—
yeah, probably lay there, but that's up to you. Yeah, we're going to put the dog loose in the back though with you.
Is that all right with me?
Yeah, would you rather be in—
I don't mind.
Okay.
Yeah, because I don't think it's going to fit.
Oh, we could probably make it there. We can move this one.
Oh, it's a big dog. All right guys, ready? You ready to see my friend? The one that's gonna join me? Are you gonna join me?
This is baby Winston.
Hi Winston! Oh my God, look at that face! Look at that face!
This is just stress that she's drooling.
Are you teething?
No, it's just stress.
I know, I know. It's because I work with children, so they're always drooling. Look at that!
Thank God.
He's a little stressed, but don't worry, you're gonna have a great time.
What kind of leash you want to put on them? You got any leashes?
Yeah, I do. I have a slip leash.
Okay, looks—
it looks pretty heavy.
Okay, so you think it'll be okay?
They're all in here, right? We are so ready to go back to New Jersey.
Where's everyone?
Oh, they're in there. Look at that nose.
Ready?
Okay, here, try to— what a beautiful day, North Carolina. Yeah, you have anything to say, share?
Michael Schneider, thank you everybody for supporting Pilots to Rescue. Thank you Cuddly for supporting our mission and also for supporting Maverick Pet Transport. Thank you, Rick, for always being on the ground. Don't forget to share our Giving Tuesday fundraiser this Tuesday, November 30th. Donate if you can. Thanks for tuning in.
Yeah, all right, all right. I don't know how to—
that's all right—
how to flip.
See you next time. Bye-bye.
