LIVE RESCUE: PTTR and Bruno Save 7 Dogs and 3 Cats on this Mission

Michael Schneider of Pilots to the Rescue flew a Cessna Caravan 4 hours 20 minutes from Louisiana to New Jersey with seven dogs and three cats, including a 4½-week-old puppy named Troy, saving them from euthanasia. Guest aviator Bruno joined the live stream to show the plane and help engage viewers.
Chapters
Michael Schneider here, Pilots to Rescue. Flew down from Essex County, or up from Essex County down to Williamsburg, Kentucky. About a 4-hour, 20-minute flight. A lot of turbulence again in the Shenandoah Valley. Updrafts, downdrafts. We were surfing, but we made it. And we're here picking up 7 dogs and 3 cats, doing this rescue in conjunction with Bissell Pet Foundation. And all these animals are going to Providence. And we have a special guest who's going to be joining us in a little bit, Bruno with Fly With Bruno. And here I have— what's the name of this dog? This is Troy. Troy is how old? He's 4 and a half weeks old. 4 and a half weeks old. So we're not transporting Troy today, but they had him on board and he's just the cutest. So we figured we would show them to all of you. Yeah, so I'll give you back, Troy. Bruno, were you able to join the live stream?
I clicked request to join.
Did you get something? I did. OK. All right. Bruno, you're going to be talking through there, through here. I think that'll work. So there's Bruno.
What's up, everyone?
Can everybody hear them, hopefully, right?
I think so, yeah.
Okay, good. Yeah, it sounds good. Bruno, how was the flight?
Ah, it was awesome. 3.5-hour flight, beautiful plane, beautiful landing. We got some turbulence along the way, but it was all for the greater good. So we made it safely, and now we're going to take these beautiful bats home or to a new home, and that's super, super exciting.
Awesome. Bruno, maybe you can turn your volume down on your phone. Oh, and it won't echo. There you go. There you go. All right, so let's see what everybody— everybody wants to see the, uh, dogs today. So since we got Bruno on the live stream, you can probably do two, two views. Yeah, if you flip the screen. Yeah, well, Bruno, maybe you want to show people the plane a little bit.
Yeah, um, let me hold on.
So all these dogs are, uh, from rural shelters in Louisiana. They were all slated to be euthanized, unfortunately, and we're going to be flying them back up to Essex County, New Jersey. All right, all right. So they're big boys. We've got 7 big dogs and 3 cats. Bruno's doing a tour of the plane at the benefit of 2 screens. On the back here. We don't know much about the animals other than they're from rural shelters in Louisiana. Here are the cats. We have 3 cats today. I know Bissell Pet Foundation, uh, I believe it was last week, about a little over a week ago, brought in nearly 200 animals to Manassas, and these are the ones that couldn't make it on board of that flight. So, uh, we're, we're picking them up today. They were not forgotten, that's for sure. So thank you everybody for joining and supporting Pilots to the Rescue. Welcome back, Bruno.
Yeah, and I just want to say, it's just a beautiful thing to know that these dogs wouldn't have, you know, much life ahead of them if it wasn't for Michael Schneider, Pilots to the Rescue, and us really being here today. So It gives this mission a whole extra meaning because you know that it's not only a matter of these dogs not having— dogs or cats not having a, you know, a very bright future. It's about not having a future at all. So thanks everybody for following along. It's been a fun and very, very humbling mission so far. It's amazing to be here. And now the rest of our mission is still up. We need to fly these Cats and Dogs Home. And Michael, thanks again for inviting me to be a part of this.
Oh, my pleasure, Bruno. It's great to have you on board, and I know you have a very loyal aviation following. We really appreciate you coming along and documenting our experience, and hopefully you've enjoyed the flight. And at least we're going back with the tailwind. It'll be a lot faster. I don't know if you— did you show everybody the inside of the plane? Did you already do this?
Yeah, let's show everybody inside the plane. So you did already.
Okay, this is doing the same thing.
This is where we'll carry all these dogs and, and cats. Some of them will be in their kennels, others will be tethered, uh, but for sure we'll be able to fit them all. Uh, we would definitely make room for them. We won't leave any of them behind. So really excited for this. Now it's time for us to get to work, load our our precious cargo and start our journey back to New Jersey.
Great. Thanks again for joining us, Bruno. And I'll say goodbye to everybody. Thank you for supporting Pilots for Rescue, whether you're donating, sharing this livestream, buying our merchandise, going to your local shelter and donating or volunteering your time. It's much appreciated. Please educate our young kids about how important it is to adopt animals. Remember, adopt, don't shop. And, uh, really appreciate all your support. We're about halfway there on the Cessna Caravan. It's looking like a 2023 acquisition, most likely. So please keep the support. We did a rescue yesterday, we did a rescue today, so we get a week break, a much-needed break. These, these flights are a lot of work. We may look— make it look easy, but it's a lot of work. And Bruno can attest to that now after doing one of these flights.
I can, I can. And I'll— speaking on behalf of Michael and everybody in Pilots to the Rescue— if you can, please donate. Uh, what, uh, every— these guys are doing is absolutely amazing. Probably one of the most beautiful missions that you can do with aviation, aside from flying people, uh, as well in need. So please, please donate and, uh, and help them, because, uh, you won't find a better reason to be on a plane than to be saving soul or someone's life. So if you can, please donate. It would be much, much appreciated. I sure already have, and I expect you too. Thanks everyone for joining. Thanks everyone for following along. Like I— like we said, our mission isn't ended yet, so please keep following the stories and, and the post that we do, uh, throughout the day. And we'll see you all soon up there with all of these dogs here and cats loaded and ready to go to their new homes. Bye-bye everyone, see you!
