In this video, I want to share with you a defining moment in my life that made me realize that I could not solely rely on a job, and our income is just limited by the hours that we can work in our job. Hi, my name is Michelle. I live in Calgary, Canada, where I met my husband Matthias. I moved here from the Philippines with my family 15+ years ago, hoping for a better life. I was taught to go to school, get good grades, get a good-paying job, work hard, and be set for life. I did the best I could and even graduated top of my class, but even then I still got laid off and was left with over $300,000 in student loan, car loans, mortgage, and even investment loans. Let me tell you this story. Early in my career, I was working on an engineering project One day, as soon as I got in, I was told to go to the manager's office. I thought at first it was to talk about the project itself, but instead I was handed a termination letter saying I was no longer needed because the company was restructuring. When I got out of the room, nobody was there. Nobody was there to say goodbye, and I was escorted out of the building like a criminal. I was devastated. I lost self-confidence. I thought there was something wrong with me, and later I found out that there are people who are working for 20 plus years in a company and still got laid off. So I promised myself to find ways where I don't have to feel that insecurity and worrying ever again. Over the years, I've tried different things. I've learned a lot, failed a lot. I even got scammed and lost money in the market. I almost gave up, but I knew if we don't do anything different, our lives would stay the same, working hard for money and never having the time freedom to do the things we love with the people that we love. So I kept searching, and one day I was invited to a webinar just like the one that I'm about to share with you.
