Mike Michalowicz: My Mission to End Entrepreneurial Poverty

In this solo talk, Mike Michalowicz declares his mission to eliminate what he calls "entrepreneurial poverty," which he breaks down into four distinct forms: financial poverty, time poverty, marketing poverty, and leadership poverty. He explains each form—financial poverty as lack of cash flow, time poverty as sacrificing family and personal life for the business, marketing poverty as fear or ignorance about gaining exposure, and leadership poverty as either authoritarian or wishy‑washy leadership that alienates teams. Michalowicz links each poverty type to a book he authored: Clockwork tackles time poverty, Get Different addresses marketing poverty, All In confronts leadership poverty, while Profit First focuses on financial poverty. He describes his current speaking strategy, noting that although he could give many more Profit First talks, he is deliberately throttling his engagements to prioritize a limited number of All In talks (10‑15 this year) because they align with his mission. He emphasizes that this intentional focus brings him joy and that he would not change his approach.
