In this solo episode, host Mike Richards marks the eighth anniversary of the Treasury Career Corner podcast, celebrating 450 episodes. He explains the motivation for a “greatest hits” recap after a listener asked for top episodes. Mike highlights the most‑downloaded interviews—featuring guests such as Wolfgang Rathiser, Burak Yildirim, Ben Loper, Tom Baelish, George Terziev, and Gary Maguire—and notes that the core topics discussed years ago (career development, essential skills, continuous learning) remain relevant today, now joined by technology and AI considerations. He reflects on the podcast’s evolution from a one‑person shed recording to a global brand that includes live events and in‑person interviews, sharing personal anecdotes of listener recognition and expressing gratitude to the community. The episode ends by directing listeners to the show notes for the top‑10 most‑downloaded episodes.

Welcome to this week's Treasury Career Corner podcast, where I interview treasury professionals about their treasury careers. Each and every week, I talk to treasurers about how they've built their careers, where they are now, where they see both themselves and the treasury profession going to next. Let's get on with the show. This week's Treasury Career Corner is a little bit different. We haven't got a guest. And when I realized that, I thought, should we just miss a week? Have a week off? No, we we can't do that because now as we approach the eighth anniversary of the Treasury Career Corner podcast, eight years I've been doing it, four hundred and fifty episodes, which is slightly ridiculous. When I started it, I tell lots of people I thought we maybe get to ten and you know a push twenty if we were lucky. I wasn't thinking that eight years later. I'd still be recording one each and every week without a break. I thought this was a really good opportunity for a bit of a look back because I got asked by a client the other day, they said, where do you do the podcast? I said, what do you mean? They went, well, is it on— it's on our website, it's on Apple, that little-known thing, it's on Spotify and all other major platforms, so please share it. I said, oh, how many episodes? What are your top ones? Any you can recommend? I thought because of this, actually, I'd have a look back at those guests that have proved to be most popular. What struck me was that a lot of the subjects we talked about 4, 5, 6 years ago now are still the topics that you guys are talking about each and every day. How do you develop your career? What skills do you need? Are there any tips about keeping on learning? And becoming a better treasury professional. Obviously, nowadays we're thinking about technology and AI and about what it means for you and your treasury career. So I thought we'd give you some of our Treasury Career Corner greatest hits, if you like. Now, these aren't the 10 best episodes, but these are some of the episodes that people have gone back to and the most downloaded. So one of our most downloaded was with Wolfgang Rathiser. About the evolving nature of an international treasury career. Recently caught up with Wolfgang at the Eurofinance conference and talked about all of that actually, as he's moved on to a new role in the UK. Another one I'll talk about was Burak Yildirim from Louis Vuitton way back in 2024. One of the key things we talked about was AI and technology, and they've only become bigger and bigger. Some of the others, we've got Ben Loper in there. We've got Tom Baelish, George Terziev, Gary Maguire, and actually we got him to come back a couple of times talking about how he climbed the Treasury career ladder. And I love it, the fact that you can go back and listen to some of these and they are as relevant today as they were back then as well. And that was the idea that I would— I spend my life, if you like, talking to you Treasury professionals about your careers. I thought, why not give you a voice, a mouthpiece if you like. You know, how you started, what happened next, what went well, what didn't, what challenges you faced along the way. And somehow, 8 years later, as it comes into 450 episodes, me basically a bloke in my shed recording a Treasury podcast to meeting people around the world, it's now evolved into our Treasury Career Corner live events and I then interview treasury professionals around the world, and I think that's a bit I'm proudest of. It's not really just the the numbers, not the downloads, but when someone walks up to me, Monique in New York, and said, "You're that podcast." Speak again. I was like, "What?" She said, "Just say your name." Hi, I'm Mike. Hi. You're the podcast guy I listen to every week on my commute. So. For me, it's a thank you to— if you, if you listen to one episode, 10, you've been here since the beginning. I'm just very grateful. We're going to keep on going. I hope you enjoy it. And if you look down below in the show notes, you're going to have our top 10 most downloaded episodes, which I think you guys will really enjoy. Have a listen.
