Welcome to another episode. Today we're going to wrap it up with the Ready to Play series and the last one, what I usually call it, is be the game. Be yourself within the game. Have fun with the game. Enjoy the game. Whatever sport you play, enjoy it. It's a sport, it's supposed to be fun. And you're going to have people that are going to drag you down. It's just the way it is sometimes. But I gave you some of these tips along the way, some of these methods that I've used as an athlete. And it was successful for me and I know it could be successful for you. And it's important, too. Like, the first thing that you do is you take the ready to play assessment. That shows you where you are now and where you need to be in your mindset. Because the mindset's so important. It's just a baseline. It's not a crystal ball. But we want to see where you are as an athlete. The second thing we'll talk about is that plan. Without a plan, you're going to be stuck. You need a plan no matter what level you play. A simplified plan, something that's written down, not that you're going to put in your phone. I really believe everybody should have a journal and you date it and you're just writing down that plan. It could be very simplified. And we get into that as well, having habits. We called it rituals. I talked about that and it was our third episode. That a ritual is something that's habitual. And we get in these good habits, like making your bed first thing in the morning. I see a smile on your face. I could see it. It's not funny because what happens is that's the first positive thing you do when you get up. I talked to a Navy SEAL about that. The first thing they do is they make their bed. And they don't just sloppily make the bed. It's made. I don't even know what sloppily is. Sloppily. Sloppily a word. But you get the point, what I'm saying. You know, having good habits. Then we talked about measurable goals that are actionable, something that's attainable. That measurable goal is something that you're going to make it happen then. And I get into that within that podcast and we help you with those. And you can even go back to our website, Hartman Academy and there's a little blue icon and you could ask us questions. Hey, Mike, I'm really confused about a measurable goal and a short term goal and can you help me? Sure. And then we talk about the short term goal. What is that short term goal that's going to help you in the very short term? I mentioned as a hockey player, we have short term goals. When I was with the New York Ranger where we evaluated ourself, we rated ourself after five games and we laid out these little goals. We talked about long term goals, which usually is three months and more. And you know, we talk about the long term goal and we talk more and we get more into the definition of what that is, the vision goal. It's that dream boy. My vision goals. I want to make my varsity football team, basketball team, hockey team. I want to play college hockey. That's my dream. And how am I going to get there? I need a roadmap to get there. How am I going to do that? But that's my vision and I'm not going to let anybody shoot me down. They're not going to agree with you, believe me. I've been kicked in the butt a lot as a young athlete. Told I wasn't good enough, too small. I've heard it all. This is why I do this. And I do this because I've had a lot of great mentors in my life who helped me. We talk about the little things in details and doing the little things right. What are those little things in details? You can go back to that. And do you play to win or do you play not to lose? We talked a little bit about that and we teach you about that. These are just some of these tips that are going to help you. You could focus on these. Do you play to win? Are you out there playing to win? Are you hesitant? Are you nervous? If you get a chance to play like in a special team, no matter what sport it is, are you going to take advantage of that? And then I talk about here is being the game, and being the game, like I said, is having fun within the game. I mentioned before about Coach Pete. He was the coach of Team USA when I was on the World Junior team and the first thing he would say to the players is, put a smile on your face. We're playing a sport. We're privileged to be out here. It's a privilege to play a sport. And that's maybe a way you could look at it is, boy, I enjoy this. It's having fun. And if you're not having fun, we have problems. And I'm sure there are ways and choices that we can make that we can make the game fun for you. Because I had to do it. I lived it. I've lived it the hard way. And my passion is helping you. I've talked about this throughout. If anybody's interested in our program, go to Hartman Academy. Click on programs. I'm giving everybody 50% off for the program.
