Welcome to another episode. We are still on the series called Ready to Play for Athletes. And this is probably one of my most favorite topics because I love working with athletes. We focus here on a lot of our younger players ages 13 and up. But we also, this could be for weekend warriors or any athlete. I consider everybody an athlete. Athlete's about moving. So if you get out and you walk in the morning, hey, you're athletic. To me as an athlete, I remember when I was working with a big Fortune 500 company and I asked the audience to raise their hand and tell me if you're an athlete or not. So the majority of the people did not raise their hand. And I said, well, listen, I want everybody to think like an athlete. Not that an athlete always thinks, you know, in the best ways, but world class athletes always have a plan. They always have habits, they have goals. That's the same thing that they need in their business. It's important to exercise properly, fuel your body. I call these things, these little things that you need to do and that's thinking like an athlete. So this topic today we're going to get on is having good habits or rituals. You can call it whatever you want. I used to call it rituals. Like rituals are habituals. So we have these, these habits in place. So a ritual to me is, let's say we're getting ready for a game and you want to be in that zone and be prepared. One of the rituals could be, well, actually, when I played in the National Hockey League, one of them was sleeping from two to four, every day we had a game or sometimes even the day we get home from practice, you take that nap. And I remember at times people say sometimes when I retired from playing and I used to take that nap, I was still in those habits. So we want to form these good habits as an athlete. We want to properly fuel our body, properly prepare our mindset, meditation. And we have, if you listen to a lot of our podcasts, you'll hear topics on meditation. And I know Cheryl Buckley, the registered dietitian who we've had on more than once. She talks about properly fueling your body. And she's worked with some of the top colleges and athletes in the world. And if you don't properly fuel your body, you're going to get into a bad habit of not taking care of yourself. So we talk about these habits. We're not going to get into all these habits. We believe athletes really need a habit. If you haven't listened to the other beginning of the podcast, please do. We're here to help answer any questions. We're having a resource area in the Hartman Academy website, no.com Hartman Academy and you can go there to the resource section. And if you're really inspired, we're welcoming you to even join us. And it starts off with that Ready to play assessment that we have. We call it the Advanced Ready to Play Index assessment that measures where you are now, where you need to be. We talked about that in our first episode. So we want to develop these really good habits and it starts even with sleep and a lot of, you know these things. But how are we going to do it? Well, we talked about, you know, if you listen to some of our previous podcasts, we talked about the importance of journaling and it's important to focus on your sleep. A lot of the people that I know, I've had, I worked with a lot of athletes, even younger athletes, and they're looking at that phone at 10 o' clock at night. Well, that blue light. I mean, everyone knows how bad it is for you. So we have to break these habits. We have to get into a habit of, you know, properly breathing, correctly, working on your breathing, and just all these little things that are going to give you the edge as an athlete. That's the whole purpose of here, getting ready to play, is having that edge. I played with some really great athletes. I've worked with some great athletes, interviewed, talked to, did the podcast with super bowl champions. And if you listen to them, they all say the same thing. We've had several NHL players because that's my background. They're all saying the same thing. There isn't any magic here on how to get better. And again, I'm going to be redundant when I say this. We're not breeding athletes. That's not the goal. The only thing I want you to do is get better as an athlete, give you the edge. If it's going to help. There are so many great books and resources out there that could help you, and I'm all for that. I would read three to four books a month and other people's books. In fact, I've had other Mindset coaches come on my show because I believe in what they're doing. It's not about, okay, I'm going to take this. This is my client. These are my people. No, we're here to help and lead. And I vicariously live through my clients at times. You know, when they're hurting, I'm hurting. All I want to do is give them the proper tools to be successful. Go to Hartman Academy. I also have in the show notes we have a discount code where we're giving 50% off on our elearning program. Moms, Dads, you will love that program for the players. They will get that ready to play assessment. That's going to help them. Plus they have the ability to have ongoing online accountability. Through myself, you go right in there, you ask any question through our course and we're going to answer it. Thank you so much for listening and being part of this show. We're all over the world now, which is exciting and tens of thousands of downloads and I'm just ecstatic on the way it's going and the audience. And thank you.
