Welcome to another episode. Today we're going to be on the athletes series again, the ready to Play And I'm going to talk more about long term goals. Boy, all these goals, goals, goals. That's all we hear about. People talk about goals but I like to categorize these goals here. So we're going to talk about a long term goal and to me a long term goal is beyond three months. So I talked about the short term goals earlier. So please go back and listen to that if you haven't listened to it. But for an athlete, I look at long term goals that could be four months, five months, seven months, all the way through to the year. I try not to get too far ahead. You know, sometimes we'll ask the athlete, where do you see yourself and what are your goals for when you're done with your, you know, junior hockey or you just played college baseball or that's different. We're just going to get into the very basics right now. So it's very important that you have your long term goal because a lot of us have, you know, the short term goal is that immediate but the long term goal, it just keeps you organized, it keeps you thinking, it keeps your eye on the prize and that big picture. So I highly recommend every athlete to write down their long term goals. So I'll just give you some. When I was an athlete, my long term goal, I was playing junior hockey in Canada and I had a long term goal. Personally, my long term goal away from the game was to finish my college education. It took me 10 years. Now I didn't plan it to be that long, but back then we had correspondence school and as an athlete I promised my parents I'm going to go back to school. I gave up several scholarship offers, many, many scholarship offers. Since I was 16 I had offers from a lot of different schools and I said I don't want to do that. I put all my eggs in one basket. I don't always recommend that. That basket was very, but I still had that long term goal, almost like a plan B. Maybe it made me feel better that boy, if I, if I don't make it, what's going to happen again we're not breeding athletes. That was me personally. I have some athletes that have the long term goal of playing four years of their varsity sport. That's amazing. Another athlete, the long term goal is I'm going to get red shirted this year. But you know what? I'm going to play longer. I have a nephew that played college basketball. His long term goal is to now he's going to be done with college, is to go to Europe and play. Everybody's goals are different but it's really how we look at our goals. To get deeper into this, we'd love to help you. We take the Ready to Play assessment. I've mentioned this, you know, throughout the podcast, the different Ready to Play athletes podcast series. Go to hartman academy no.com hartman academy and go into the program area. I mentioned this in one of my earlier podcasts that I did with the Ready to play athletes that I love reading, I love doing research, looking at people that have actually been there and not that everybody that has been there. I'm not saying that we have coaches that haven't been at the highest level. It doesn't make them, you know, any more or less of anybody else. But I look at some of these, I've read so many books or so many great books that these subject matter, professional experts that have been at the highest level, coached at the highest level coach Division 1 athletes and pick up these books and read it, educate yourself. It's only going to make you better and learn more. We'd love for you to take our course. I love to be a resource for you, but there's so many great alternatives out there that you could always look up. I mean, the Internet's a valuable source. Listen, thank you so much.
