Welcome back to the Mike Hartman Show. Today we are going to talk about how to create habits and rituals. And you've heard me talk about this many times. I'm a big believer that this does help you. Again, Mike Hartman, the founder of Hartman Academy and the book A Workplace for Athletes and the Workplace Athletes. So we have the Healthy Mindset book that is on Amazon and we're here to help you. I'm going to take a little piece from the book because I know it's so important about why are we going to have good habits and rituals in our life? I mean, daily habits are important because they're the building blocks of your system. You need a system every day, even the littlest things to get you going. Personally, I like to journal what I'm doing. Like I look at the time of day, let's say it's the morning. I'm going to say, okay, first thing in the morning, I'm going to make my bed, have a lot of other things to do in the morning. I do my exercises, I do many other things. But I'm establishing that routine which is really important. The afternoons, I set myself up with a schedule all the way to the evenings. Now, this doesn't have to be in black and white. I mean, this is something that you could use as a guide. But the importance of establishing those routines are so important in creating those good daily habits and rituals in your life. So think about the morning routine. You get started off on the right foot. It just sets the tone. It's like in a sport, whatever sport you're playing, you get up and you make a great play or you start off with a base hit. It sets the tone. Or you're getting up and you're a workplace athlete, somebody that works within a corporation. You get up in the morning, you're going to start with stretches or exercising, then go back and make your bed. But again, these are routines that should help you in the evening time setting good routines. Let's say you're going to bed at 10pm you don't want to start getting ready for bed at 10:00pm you want to get ready around 9:00pm you want to make sure you're ready for bed. It's just like an athlete. We don't prepare five minutes before the game. We prepare many hours before the game. In fact, I was listening to a great interview last week with the pitcher from the New York Yankees. One of the pitchers was on there, and he's a, he's Cole. And he's, you know, one of the top pitchers in baseball. And they asked him, so when do you prepare? Like, let's say that game is over, that he just pitched nine innings, or he pitched seven or probably most likely seven, six innings. When do you start preparing? He says as soon as I start walking into the dugout. And he's not ready to pitch until next week. And this is what it takes, preparation to get yourself into these good habits and these good routines. I'm doing these short little clips to help you. If you have any questions, go to Hartman Academy. Or you could check out our book called the Healthy Mindset, a workbook for athletes and the workplace. Athletes love to help you.
