Hello. This is Mike Hartman, the founder of Hartman Academy and the book the Healthy Mindset, A Workplace for Athletes and the Workplace Athletes. It's found on Amazon. And I'm going to be going over these certain tips with you that I strongly believe in. And if you haven't heard me before, one of them is the importance of a healthy mindset. And a healthy mindset means so many different things. We really start with mindfulness. And mindfulness means being in the moment. If you've listened to some of our previous episodes, I've talked about a lot of great personalities, a lot of great athletes. The workplace athlete, now the workplace athlete is somebody that could work in corporate America. You could be a plumber, you could be a doctor, whatever your profession is. And you take that athletic model with you. You definitely need a healthy mindset. The athlete needs a healthy mindset. Give some good examples as I work with without ever saying names. I work with a baseball player and he's on his way up to the big leagues. And with him, he's not playing much. He's frustrated. He was frustrated within his game. He's playing in the minors and he's not getting the opportunities that he wants. Now, is it okay just to say, okay, I quit, be negative, I'm not going to focus, I'm not going to concentrate. I'm going to bring a bad energy into what we're doing. No, we want to have that healthy mindset. And it really starts with mindfulness because mindfulness could help you deal with some of these things. Being mindful is being right in the moment, being fully present. It helps with your stress, eliminating stress. And we get into all these different topics in our book the Healthy Mindset for Athletes and the Workplace Athletes. And we get into that. We get into leading and holding you accountable. But the whole purpose is that you really have to take care of yourself, no matter what it does or the workplace athlete. Then you'll experience burnout, you get burnt out, you'll be tired, and what's that? That's why you need that healthy mindset. Practicing meditation and all these things that we talk about. Now, mindfulness is the concept that we've embraced for many Years started using mindfulness back in 1987. I shared on one of the episodes where I took everything so seriously. I was in the moment, but I was putting so much pressure on myself, so much pressure as an athlete having to make it, worried about, okay, now the Buffalo Sabres just signed another left winger. What do you do instead of really focusing on myself? But it wasn't until I went to Chicago for an injury and I don't want to repeat this. It's on our recent podcast. I went to Chicago, I met with these doctors, we practiced meditation, imagery, all of these things. And I've learned it at a young age, was around 1986. And it was just amazing that how I learned this and I've applied it to my life ever since and it has helped me within my game. That's why I want to serve and share this with you. Serve you, share this with you, hold you accountable as well. So making sure you really understanding what mindfulness is, it could help you get more out of what you want. Let's say you're going to work out and you don't feel like working out, you're tired. But you know what? Put yourself in the moment, do whatever you can to get yourself there. And I'm not taking, I'm not talking about taking one of those energy drinks, which I'm not a big fan of, by the way, but just taking one of these drinks to get yourself going. You have to personally get yourself to a point where you're ready. And I hope this helps you. If you have any questions, you can go to Hartman Academy. No.com ask questions. We're here to help you with this. We're here to lead you. We want you to live your best life. And we're going to be focusing on this, at least for the next month. I'm going to be going through some of these different tips on mindfulness and being in the present and mental toughness and a lot of these things that applies to your life. I recently do, I do a lot of speaking, speaking around the country and I recently did one in New York with a group and they were fantastic. It was great. I did a presentation on exactly what we're talking about. Being in the moment, being focused, and don't want to say the, the name of the company, but they're a pretty big auto company. Great leadership, definitely. So it definitely starts at the top. Some of you leaders out there that lead a company, lead a team, it starts with you. It starts with you. Being mindful starts with you and your energy and what you bring. But I was sharing with them different tips as the workplace athlete. Now we're going back and forth here because that's who I work with. I work with the athlete and the workplace athlete. But we were just talking about how if you're not prepared, your team won't be prepared. So these were the leaders of this really big automotive company. These were the owners. We had over 50 people that I was presenting to. But we really made it clear that it starts with you and the same thing with you. You could still be a leader. You might not be the captain of your team or the captain of, or an assistant captain of the team or in a company. You may not even be a leader, but it's your energy that you bring in. It's you being mindful of the situation, practicing these things. And this just doesn't happen overnight. Mindfulness doesn't just, oh, I'm going to be mindful. Takes a lot of practice, takes a lot of training, self training. I call it self coaching, coaching yourself. And you can do that. A lot of us need accountability partners and that's what we do. We could hold you accountable to, to it. We do that through our app at Hartman Academy. We do a lot of that. But it's important that you focus on the importance of having a healthy mindset. Practicing on paying close attention to the details no matter what it is, even your workout. We've also found that even in corporate America that the people that do follow a healthy mindset, they exercise, they work on their sleep, they're doing meditation, they are much more productive. We call them champions. Those are champions. You have that champion mindset to go ahead and do it. Same with the athlete. The athlete, the one that's going to get up early in the morning, make their bed. That's part of using. That's a mindset. Talking about a lot of this is important. We're going to talk about why a healthy mindset helps people in so many different ways. Somebody might say, why do I need this? Well, it improves focus, concentration, you know, mentally, you want to be prepared. It helps with clarity. Let's say you're nervous before a big meeting or a game. How are you going to handle that? We work with these certain tips so you can handle it going into it. How are we going to do that? How can we have a healthy mindset going into these situations? And how are you going to hold yourself accountable to it? So I think it's important for you to understand that there's many benefits of having a healthy mind we're going to go through these now. This podcast might not be for everybody. I'm going to focus on this. You know, part of the podcast is focusing on stories, mindset and champions. And I know some people. Why don't you bring on more athletes, which we are. Why don't you bring on some more people in corporate America that have done well within their careers or somebody that's been successful elsewhere? We will, but I really want to focus on you understanding how to really take care of yourself so you can maximize your performance so you're going to be at the top of your game. That's what we want. We want you to understand all the benefits of having a healthy mindset to practice the and master them so they're not becoming these habits that you could do. And we're going to talk a lot about that as well. So I really want you to focus in on this. I want to hold you accountable, and we do that. I want to hold you accountable for what you're doing. Holding, holding your hand. And one way too is to, you know, sometimes somebody says, well, how can I know if I'm practicing mindfulness? Well, pay attention to your breathing or your breath. Sometimes we're like, you know, we have this deep breathing. You know that that's all part of recovery. So I'm throwing all these things at many different directions. But mindfulness, the way we look at it and having a healthy mindset is so many different components and we are going to go into that for you. So I hope you continue to listen. I hope a lot of you. Thank you for those who've enjoyed listening to our show. And I want to thank those who went out and bought the book. It means a lot to us, the healthy mindset for athletes and the workplace athletes. And thank you for those who are leaving a review.
