I'm going to talk to you about the importance of downtime as it is so important because we can't keep going and going and going. So within your self coaching journey, I'm going to go over some tips that may help you. If you have any questions, please leave it in the chat as I'm here to hold you accountable and help you the first thing is the importance of rest and recovery. Somebody once asked me what is the definition of fitness? The ability to recover. What's the definition of life? Oh, the ability to recover. What's the definition of an athlete? The ability to recover. Because all of them if you're working out and you're exhausted, you're going to end up hurting yourself most of the time. And this allows your body and your mind to fully recover from the physical and mental demands of your everyday life. So we always say the definition of life overall to me is rest and recovery. You could be a soccer player or we say football in Europe, we have a lot of European people within our community. So if you imagine you're playing football when I'm not talking about American football and you're really good the first three minutes of the game, but then you're exhausted that after that you need to recover. So rest and recovery is good for so many reasons, especially with the workplace athlete. In corporate America, if you're always going, going, going and if you're sometimes we have to work through the weekend, but if you don't give yourself a break, you're eventually going to burn out. The next thing is sometimes we need a little bit of a boost, like taking a break from just everything we do is good, a recovery. I just had to do this recently because I was overdoing it. Sometimes we do too much. Even at our age. I call myself the weekend warrior. So some of our younger generation may not understand this, but I was playing pickleball, I was exercising a lot. I started having my hip was sore, my knee was sore and nothing serious but I was overusing. So it's very Important that we take these good breaks in our life. And even in the afternoon, even taking a mental break in the afternoon could be good. Like little short breaks during work can help you improve your focus and you'll be more productive and you'll be able to accomplish more. Sometimes you need a day off. I remember even in our professional sports career, I used to love when we had Mondays off. I felt so revived. That was back in the day. Now they're realizing it more and more today. And in today's sports that recovery is so important and just short breaks could really make a difference. If it's a short break for a day off or if it's a short break in the afternoon, that's going to help. We also look at stress reduction because downtime is essential for managing stress. It also provides a mental reset and allows you to relax. So stress as you know could do a lot to you. It could eat away at you and it can go even dangerous. I'm not going to get into the big dangers of it. I let our dietitian talk about that. But sometimes stress could really affect you and your health so much that it could be extremely dangerous. But stress will allow you to really set yourself back. So without the recovery and without downtime, it could affect you. And also we talk about improved well being. Regular downtime contributes to a better mental and emotional well being. Just overall happiness, you'll feel better. I feel so much better when I have downtime and then I'm able to go back to what I'm doing. Just I'm so much happier. Quality time. Spend downtime with a family member, a teammate. This will really strengthen your relationship and it will really just. It will just. It's good for long lasting memories and just feeling good. Downtime is a way to. It opens your eyes sometimes even. And I'm not going to get into the health aspect. Sometimes I just like a coffee on a Saturday, look at the ocean if I'm by the ocean and just really. And enjoy it. Enjoy that downtime. We talk a little bit about self care. So using downtime for self care activities like meditation, exercise or hobbies or the physical health now that's all part of the healthy mindset elearning. You should have listened to it by now in the community. And it's so important that you listen to those. That's why I just listed those now because it's caring for your overall self. It will help you in your everyday life. And it's important too to be balanced. I had somebody tell me recently that they consider themselves. I'm not going to get into who it was, but one of the athletes told me that their life is only that sport. And I said, well, you need a balanced life, even if you're. You call it a workaholic or anybody else. I also had one of my corporate people tell me their whole life is work. They identify themselves by what they do. But that's going to really what that's going to do is it's going to create burnout in your life. So downtime will help prevent that in your overall life. That will help you prevent burnout and also overall satisfaction within, within your life or your reflection of downtime offers a chance to reflect on your goals and your values and your life direction and just helping you in your everyday personal life and your personal growth. So downtime will give you that time to reflect and look back. So there's all these little tips that could help you. You got to remember that things happen very fast in this world today. Sometimes we don't have a lot of downtime. And I've used that word because that's exactly what people tell me. I don't have any downtime. I don't have the time to do this. I don't have any downtime. I can't do this. I can only spend time on this. But remember what's going to happen eventually it will catch up to you and it will set you back. So it's very important that you do your best to be balanced and utilize the downtime. This is a little self coaching tip. Any questions?
