Now let's dive headfirst into this episode of the Healthy Mindset App Podcast podcast. Here's your host, Mike Hartman.
Welcome to the new Healthy Mindset App podcast. And for those who have been following the Mike Hartman show for the past, what, four years now, we have decided to rebrand and make a change. Change for the better. We're still going to talk about stories and mindsets and champions. We're going to go over a lot of that. But what I decided to do was give away the house, literally. So what I'm going to do is you're going to get everything for free. So we call it the Healthy Mindset app because we use different applications like our assessments that we use within our business. We use these targeted, validated assessments for the athlete and for the workplace athlete. And a lot of our shows are going to be around different topics about how to have a healthier mindset within your life. And it's really important that you listen to the entire course. It's there for you. Now, of course, we can't give our app away for free as well, so that's another thing that we're not going to do. But I'm going to talk about many different topics going forward. I mean, we have hundreds of questions that came in. That's a big reason why I decided to rebrand. We have people from different companies, athletes, professional athletes, and we're going to use a lot of those questions that I'm going to apply to the podcast. Some of the things that we're going to go over is the importance of a healthy mindset and why do you need a healthy mindset? What going to talk about what is mindfulness? Do you really know what mindfulness? There's been so many different definitions flying around about mindfulness and why is a healthy mindset important for athletes? How can you start practicing mindfulness? What are the benefits of practicing mindfulness? We're going to go into another things like how to win the game in your head. We're going to talk about the mental side of sports or the mental side of what you're doing within your profession, your life, and how do we overcome some of These mental blocks we do go over a little bit about the assessment because that's the main piece to our big puzzle is this assessment. It really gives you a nice baseline of where you are now. Where do you want to be? How do you value things? We look at your internal, which we call as the intrinsic, the extrinsic and the systemic. Not to try to throw these words around and confuse you, but we look at the external world and we look within your confidence and we look at different attributes as well. So just going through these assessments, we want to make sure that we, we celebrate our wins. We. So that's why we use that tool. We want to see are you setting intentions, are you prioritizing your values? And a lot of what we do within that assessment is values. I'm going to go a lot into goal setting. People set goals and they just set sometimes ridiculous goals. Like everybody has a New Year's resolution goals and most people can't achieve them. But we're going to start talking about how do you set smart goals? You've heard of those before, but especially measurable goals. Staying motivated to achieve your goals. It's great. We all have a goal. Okay, how are we going to achieve that? And I'm super excited to do this. I'll share with you a little bit more about really about having good habits. You've heard these before, but we're really going to really narrow down some of these things about having good habits and rituals. Establishing a daily routine. I mean I get up every day, I make my bed. It's kind of. Why would you make your bed? Well, it's the first thing you're doing on a positive note. You've heard me say that many times establishing a routine is important. I exercise every morning. I'm doing this, this new thing called Hot Works, which I love. I do it in an infrared sauna. Now it's going to be getting hot here in Charlotte, North Carolina this time of year. But I'm wondering how that's going to work out. But I love my workout. I mean I'm actually in there. I do yoga because I don't lift weights anymore. So for me I'm going to establish routines and help you establish these routines. Developing a positive self image is so important and we'll learn a lot through the assessment. And again, nobody has to take an assessment. But that's just a tool that we use. Beside that, everything is going to be free as well as you could ask us questions on the homepage of our website and we talk a Lot about confidence and how to have confidence within yourself. Confidence comes within people say, well, can confidence be learned? I believe it can. I believe mental toughness can be learned as well. We're going to talk about that. Overcoming adversity and also building your teamwork skills, whether it's with your sports organization or your team could be in a dental practice. And how do we do that? And we're going to apply the sports method to that. Being a team player all starts with you. I played with a lot of great captains in my professional sports days. A lot of great leaders, not only captains, great coaches, great mentors. We're going to apply a lot of those as well. We're going to talk about why communication is so important. It's actually so it's critical that you have really strong communication skills. We're going to learn those as well. Mindfulness is an important teamwork skills. How do you incorporate that into a team? Handling pressure and criticism effectively, that's a tough thing nowadays. It's hard to say things to people because they might take it so personal. But how you say it is going to be just as important. So learning these things is going to help you overall. And I call it having a healthy mindset, handling the criticism and pressure. And I'm going to tell stories about a lot of my athletes and my business professionals that I work with. Not going to say names. And we're going to feed off of some of that so it could help you. This is all about you. That's why it's not the Mike Hartman Show. Yes, I am going to be part of the show. We're going to be bringing guests on, but it's not Mike Hartman, it's you. It's helping you develop a healthy mindset and developing healthy mindset on criticism and really how to handle that. We want to talk about a healthy mindset for balance. We talked about managing like time. Everyone said you have time management while also managing your energy and how important that is. And we're going to talk about why recovery and downtime is so important. And no matter what it is, if you're watching a professional sports event and a team is taking days off to recover, it means a lot. I'm not going to get too deep into that right now. Recovery is so important within your life. So I really believe in downtime. Dealing with injuries or setbacks or we get sick or dealing with different things, how do you deal with them? How do you deal with setbacks? How do you deal with an injury? You're playing a sport it could be pickleball. It could be your weekend warrior. You're a professional athlete. How do you deal with the injuries and how are you going to come back from those? Sometimes it's really tough to come back. So you're going to use mindfulness to deal with injuries and setbacks. We're going to talk about eating right. And our dietitian, Cheryl Buckley, is going to give us a wealth of knowledge. She's got multiple degrees. She's really going to help us out on the nutrition part. That's one thing I'm not an expert in. I just know how to eat a lot. I like my candy once in a while. I like my chocolate. But I do eat well. It's a big part of what I do. But once in a while it's okay to splurge. I don't think that's the biggest deal. But we're going to learn a lot about how to eat right, stay in shape. We're going to learn about the importance of getting rest and having a really balanced lifestyle. And I'm going to talk about using a mind map. You might want to Google that. Google, Google, what is a mind map? And I'm going to help you with your own personalized mind map. Talk about eating right, staying in shape. Everybody trains differently. I mentioned earlier I'm doing hot work, but that doesn't mean it's the the only thing to do. Some people may not want to do that, but it's important that you're training correctly. We call it what corrective exercise training. Actually doing it correctly, not over training, overusing. And I mentioned getting enough rest. Sleep is everything to me. And we're going to talk about how to have that within a healthy lifestyle. Tips for maintaining a balanced lifestyle. And then what happens a lot of our athletes, whether you're in college or high school, what happens to life after sports? You can still play recreational sp. We're going to talk about that as well. And a lot of this is all covered in the course, but we're going to go deep into these and I'm going to be answering a lot of questions for you again to help you. So we talk about setting goals in other areas of your life as well. They just don't have to be around your business or around your sport. And now we call it the workplace athlete for business. So you're going to hear me refer. I'll reference that quite a bit, actually, within the show. Staying motivated when you're not playing sports and what to do for a lot of you athletes out there finding new hobbies and interests. Outside of sports, everything doesn't have to be a sport. It's nice to do different things, learn different things. We're going to talk about that. The important that is to have a healthy mindset and applying that to your lifestyle. We're going to talk about playing to win in your life. You know, you've heard it before. Do you play to win or do you play not to lose? We're not going to get into the cliches, but we're going to talk about what does it mean, playing to win. Focusing on your healthy mindset is what we're going to do. We have other references as well, and the plan is to bring all of this to you now with our newly branded podcast. I'm looking forward to doing this again. This is all about you.
