Welcome back to another episode and we're still on the Life After Sports series. And now I'm just going to go into some life skills. It's really important. If this is the first time you're listening to this, please listen to the intro as we have an offer for all athletes. Whether you are a high school athlete, college athlete, professional athlete, Olympic athlete, it doesn't matter, matter. We're here to help athletes and we also offer a program that is completely free if you cannot afford it. And this program is not thousands of dollars we're talking about. It's into the hundreds, it's under a hundred dollars for, for all athletes here. And I developed this program because I understand and I lived it and I know how hard that life after sports is. So please go back and listen to the other episodes and today we're going to talk about 10 life skills for life after sports that I extremely important and I'm going to get right into the first one. It's self awareness and understanding your strengths is so important. You knew it as an athlete. So no matter what sport you played, you you should have known your strengths as an athlete. Well, it's the same thing in life. It's the same thing in working, you know, finding those triggers and those motivations and the ability to make really good decisions. And the only way you could do that is if you're self aware. And we believe that is so important. Having that self awareness and having that even that belief in yourself. The next thing I want to talk about is emotional regulation, learning how to stay calm. Sometimes as an athlete that's the toughest thing. We let our emotions get in the way. But in the real world it's important that like we can't let out that energy. That's the one thing I personally miss. This an athlete. I remember being a professional athlete and there's nothing better than letting that energy out. But you can't do that at that same level. So to me it's learning how to stay calm, cool and collected. We talk about balance. And then when life gets stressful, how do we handle it? And these are some of the tools that we give to you within our system. Another thing is learning communication. And I struggled in the beginning with this, and I've seen a lot of athletes struggle and we offer these. One of our courses, you know, is around this topic of communication. Like my friend said to me, he just got a sales job and he didn't have any sales experience. And I, you know, he didn't really know how to communicate with, with the person he was selling to. So being able to express yourself clearly, listen well and build strong relationships is certain to me is extremely important. That's really one of the big things that we focus on@healthymindsetapp.com problem solving is also something that is, you know, approaching challenges. How do you solve problems? As an athlete? There was a different way to solve problems. We do teach, we believe in athlete and life. Skills and workplace all translate and they all go hand in hand. But there's sometimes where it doesn't and you have to, you have to understand, you know, sometimes you're going to get frustrated or sometimes it's hard to find that solution, but you're going to have to find a way to do it. And we teach those skills. Time management. Creating daily structure so you can stay productive without the old practice schedule. So as an athlete, we always had schedules. We are always told, okay, we have to be here at this time. We have to do that. To me, that's extremely important. Time management. We even teach you how to manage your energy within our system. Adaptability, adjusting to new roles and environments, responsibilities, without feeling overwhelmed. How many times are you overwhelmed when you're done within your sport? To me, I, I struggled initially with that as well. So adjusting new roles, environments and responsibilities without feeling overwhelmed. We work on these. They're in there. It's like anything else. It's like working on the skill as an athlete, confidence building. Now, as an athlete, you might feel great, you might be a ball player, and if you're, if you bat, you know, what do they say? If you're, if you're batting.300, you're doing great. That's amazing. But in the real world, it's not that easy. It really, you know, you, we gain confidence in sports one way, but it's also similar in the real world. But working on your confidence, to me is a skill and we help you with that. Goal setting, we help you with smart goals. You may have heard of them, but we get really deep into learning smart Goals. So creating clear, realistic goals that give you direction and purpose. So you have to have a purpose behind it. I use the example sometimes in sports. I don't want. Like in soccer, if you were out there playing with your friends and you're in the field or you're practicing, you're a former college soccer player. And no matter where you play D3D1 club, it doesn't matter. High school, and we take the goals away, the nets away. It's boring. You have nothing to shoot for. It's the same thing. We always need something to shoot for. And this is one of the skills that we help you with. And the other thing too is you had to do it as an athlete on the ice, field, court, course, wherever it was. You have to take responsibility and owning your choices and actions. It's like we teach in sports. You act, don't react sometimes, and we have to react to certain things. But if you're acting, you're going like, you're acting like you're on it for the most part, no matter what sport it is, pretty much if you're reacting, you could be behind the play or, and not every sport, but I think you understand what I'm talking about. So it's important that you know, it's, you know, that you own and own your actions, you know, and, and, and it's also preparation, too. When we teach you how to prepare, the other thing is continuously growing, and I mentioned that before, continuously learning, reading, educating yourself, improving and doing all of these things to help you. And that's what we do. And I've mentioned this several times. I want to be clear. This is for Life After Sports. And if anybody cannot afford this program, we don't talk about it, we don't discuss with anybody. We're here to help. We'll find a way for you. We offer a whole scholarship program, but we do believe you should be invested a little bit. I mean, we're talking about, you know, close to a little over $100 to do this. And it's a, you know, the program is thousands of dollars, but it's not about the money. We really believe that. Okay. How can we give back? And I've been in those shoes and I in Life After Sports, it's like, it's still like, you know, all these. I'm 58 years old and I still reflect back.
