Welcome back to another episode. My name is Mike Hartman, the founder of Hartman Academy and the book the Healthy Mindset. It's a workbook for athletes and the workplace athletes. I've been in the personal development field for over 18 years now and I just love helping and giving back. We have a wonderful app that we help lead individuals, whether it's the athlete or somebody in the workplace athlete through our program and I would love to to help you. And again, if I've always said this, I, I do sponsor many people. If for some reason you can't afford the the program, I'll definitely give you the app which has some goals and meditation and things to it. Well, I'm with the show today. I'm going to talk a little bit about confidence and why it's so important to have confidence in yourself. Go back to our earlier chapters. We talk about confidence, how it comes from within and you have to trust yourself and trust your abilities. Sometimes we just have to go for it. You know, when you're confident, you feel great about yourself, you feel good about your abilities. You just landed a great project at work and you feel good about it, that you're going to do it. And sure, you're going to be confident. Or you start the game in hockey and you score a goal. Yeah, you're going to be confident or you make a big save or you hit one out of the park or you make a great putt. But be confident within yourself. And it all starts with, I'm going to give you these basic little tips here and these are some of the ways that you can maintain confidence in yourself. Here we go. Give you five tips. The first thing is believing in yourself. Sure, you've heard that so many times. I know how to do that. But you have to believe in yourself even when things are down. And you could use a lot of these tools like self talk or imagery or some of these things that are in our other chapters that you could use as tools to help you. But you have to have it within. It's so important. The next thing, I talked about this a lot and if you look back in the even the other episodes we have and if a lot of it Sounds the same, but it leads to. It leads to the destination where you want to go and it helps you with your journey. And it's being prepared. You've heard me say that many times. We'll start in the morning by making your bed and your self care and exercising. But being prepared is so important. That's what you know. Being consistent, being prepared, building confidence. That's one way to do it, is working on yourself, always being prepared. Then you're going to feel confident for things that come up, like unexpected challenges or things that get in your way or roadblocks. You're going to say, okay, I can handle it. Because yeah, you come out of the gate, you're doing really well. But what happens when things don't go so well? And these are the things that you learned. I've learned as a hockey player once that somebody told me this and I've used this several times. You've probably heard this. And I said, one player told me he was a veteran. He was our captain of the Buffalo Sabres. Then Mike Foligno, he says, I want you to remember something. It's 60 miles from Buffalo to Rochester. So it's 60 miles in the car, but it's 120 back. So stay consistent and keep your confidence up. And you need to work on that. It's something that you work on. It's something I never forgot. I love teaching by stories. The next thing is practicing on building your confidence. Practice on mastering skills. And I said this earlier in the last episode about repetition can be your best friend. If you don't do well at a certain thing within the workplace or you're an athlete and you're not doing it well, Repetition is so important, but not so much that you are overdoing it or we call it over training in sports sometimes. So you have to be smart within it, but continuously do things. I remember even in school that I just didn't get algebra the first and ninth grade. And what I had to do was I had to keep studying and studying and learning and learning and going for extra help. And finally I got it and thank goodness. But some of us are late bloomers, some of us take a while. So I want you to practice things. Another thing is be confident by doing positive things. We talked about that even earlier. Being around people, like positive people. Focus on positive things. People are going to try to bring you down, your coaches. Sometimes a teacher may say something, but it's important that you work on yourself and be positive. You'll be surprised. I don't mean fake Positive, but I mean positive. And when you're positive, you're going to bring that good energy into situations. One thing I always try to do is the last one I want to talk about is keep learning, research, learn. I had a young athlete told me the other day he wants to play hockey for, for, for Michigan. I said, well, what's the name of the stadium? What do you know about their football program? He says, football? I go, yeah. I said, I'm not a football guy, but I love sports. I think that stadium holds 100,000 Michigan football is one of the most talked about things. I mean, so if you, if you want to go to University of Michigan research, learn about the school, know this. I know the fights. I know their song in my head. But. And I didn't even go there. You know how to the victors, right? Is that. Anyway, I know people are laughing, but that's the truth. You have to continuously learn. I worked with somebody in real estate recently. They were taking the real estate test. They said, I don't understand some of this stuff like encroachments. I'm never going to use it. I said, you never know when you're going to use it. You keep practicing and practicing and learning and learning and learning and studying and learning and going back to it and learning. So you understand it because one day you're going to have to know what encroachments mean for some of those people that are out there. So it's important that you maintain confidence by doing this stuff, by working on yourself every day. Again, we have the app. If anybody cannot afford this program, a lot of what we do is around ethics and honesty. I will invite you into our app where we have meditation and we have our dietitian who gives great tips. And I'm going to give this to you on me. A lot of us are listening to this in the app because I put a lot of these recordings now into the app, the podcast, so our clients and our athletes and workplace athletes, workplace athletes can listen to this again. Looking forward to helping you. Looking forward to doing a lot more of these. And if you have any questions, just reach out. Go to Hartman Academy no dot com.
