Welcome back to the Mike Hartman Show. I'm Mike Hartman, the founder of the Hartman Academy no.com and the author of the book the Healthy Mindset for Athletes and Workplace Athlet. Foreign. Today we're going to get into some Q and a. One of the questions came in from, from one of our. He's a baseball player and his name is Will Mangarian. And we only use names. If you want to give us your name again, you can go to the Hartman Academy. On the corner there's a little blue icon. You can ask us a question and we'll do our best to answer it for you. So the question is, what is the difference between a goal and dreams? Will? Great question. Really good question. Well, dreams are something that you create. You have this vision dream or you have dreams at night before you go to bed and you say, boy, I dream of playing in the big leagues or my dream is to play college sports, or my dream is to be number one in my company. While goals are action based, taking action. Like one thing I remember, Will, when we even worked together, we talked about a measurable goal. So the measurable goal is something that's attainable, that has what, that has action to it. Dreams are what we have in our head and we, we have this vision now without getting into too much, we have people that are dreamers out there that are, that just dream, but they don't put any actionable goals to their dreams. So you have to put actionable goals to your dreams. Number one in a goal, you have to have a deadline. Okay, this is the time I'm going to do it. A measurable goal for the next week. This is what I'm going to do. Or the next couple days. My measurable goal is to take so many swings in the batting cage. Just an example for you, Will, or for another, let's say a hockey player. My measurable goal is to outwork everybody on the ice today and be the first one on the ice. Well, that's actionable. That's, that's measurable. So just think, dreams are free. There's not really anything to it. You're free to dream, which I always believe it's okay to dream. But goals have that cost. You're actually, you know, going out there to be productive at whatever it is you're trying to do. Like a short term goal. We've talked a lot about goals, short term goals. You want something to happen, let's say in the next month. That's the short term goal. Now I say we have vision goals, but that's the dream goal. So what is it by the time that you focus on your measurable goal, your short term goals, your long term goals, your smart goals, anytime after that? I always believe in that vision goal. And that's the dream. That's the dream of getting there. And you have to see yourself getting there or nobody else will. So will, that's the answer. That's and I'm sticking to it.
