Welcome back to the Mike Hartman show. And I'm doing this podcast from the car again. Boy, it's so much easier. I've been getting these messages early morning sent to me and I said, you know what, I'm gonna, I'm gonna get it out of the way, start creating the habit of doing it right here in my car. So if anyone knocks on my window, I'm here at Starbucks. I get my early morning coffee and very early. But for me, I just want to make sure I get these out and I'm just a quick change. So I've been talking a lot about the Hartman Dodd Academy. There's no more Hartman Dot Academy. That is the name of, we do dba of our businesses, the Hartman Academy. But our website now is the healthymindsetapp.com H E-A-L T H Y mindsetapp.com and that's where you can find our book the Healthy Mindset for the Athletes and the Workplace Athletes. So today I have a question that came in and it says my season is over and I'm going to start getting back on the field for training as soon as I can. It's been a week since I'm done. I'm getting the itch to go. And one thing I do, I don't like to have a plan. I met, I heard you mention that it's important to have a plan. I feel like I do my best when I shoot from the hip, so I don't think I need a plan. Why is that so important? Well, I'm going to keep this very simple for you. Let's use the example is here, actually, I'm sitting outside the Trader Joe's grocery store. So I'm looking here at the Trader Joe's. I'm here in Charlotte, North Carolina. Some people that live in Charlotte would know exactly where I am. I'm right by the Greenway and right where the Starbucks is. So the example is, let's say you, you go to Trader Joe's and you know you have to go grocery shopping but you don't have a list. You're gonna say, I know what I want, but I'm just gonna walk in There I don't just gonna start picking up things. I know I need some yogurt, I know I need milk. I know I need my vegetables and some fruit and not sure what else I need, but I'm just going to go in there and wing it. Most likely by the time you get home, if you got all your groceries, you're not going to get everything that you need. So the way I look at it is you need a list. You need that list to be organized. It's like your grocery list. Okay, I'm going to go into Trader Joe's today and this is exactly what I need. And as we do it, we're going to mark off the list. Now I could tell you personally here, even at my age now I consider myself an athlete. I'm not a world class or elite athlete. I'm a 2.0. If you, if anyone knows anything about pickleball. 2.0 pickleball player, not very good. 20 handicap golfer, not much of a, of a golfer. Used to play a lot, but not very good. But I was trying to be organized, you know, in everything that I did, I always, I have a list with my workouts, My workouts are on a list. I have it exactly what I know what I'm going to do for the week and I plan it out just like you should. You should have a plan that's going to keep you organized so you know exactly what you want and how you're going to get there. Without a roadmap, without some sort of a list, you're going to be lost. I can guarantee it. I remember as a professional athlete, even, you know, back in the day we would get our training program sent to us with the days of exactly what we were supposed to do. And in my eyes, that's so important. And it's also the importance of being disciplined. So if you're, if you're shooting from the hip and you're all over the place, that's going to affect your discipline. You know, as an athlete. A big part of being an athlete is being disciplined. You know, I could think of so many different things here that I could think about as an athlete. Like let's say, okay, I'm, you know, I'm just not going to have a plan. I'm going to get to the, let's say you play hockey and I'm going to get to the rink whenever I, I don't know. But usually a good athlete, a good discipline athlete is going to say I'm going to be at the, I'm going to be the first one at the rink. That's my plan for the week. That's part of my, it's on my list. You know, I'm going to be organized. I mentioned it before. Getting up in the morning, making your bed, being disciplined as an athlete. And you're going to have that plan drawn out. And part of that plan is to make your bed in the morning and taking care of yourself, your self care. Make sure you're putting, you know, proper nutrition, fueling your body. Without proper nutrition, your body will break down. So it's very important to have that list to be organized, to focus on what I say is the littlest things in details. Because if you don't have that list, you're going to miss something. And it's not easy to be disciplined. It's not. But if you don't have a plan, you're going to be stuck. I could almost promise you. So I hope this has helped you. It's a little bit of a tip. I really believe you need some sort of a plan. It doesn't have to be my plan that I'm sharing with you here, but you should have some sort of coaching or mentoring or a plan that's going to keep you organized. Especially your season just ended. I'm not even gonna, this is a whole other podcast. But yeah, you need that recovery. So, you know, whatever sport you play, I, I, I, I believe that recovery is so important. That should be part of your plan because your body needs to rest and I hope this has helped you. Any more questions? Reach out to the healthymindsetapp.com I want to hear your questions. They're coming in. I love it. And now, what did I say earlier? I hear an airplane. I hear that airplane coming. Boy, that's a big one. So let me know if I could help you in any way. Have a great day.
