Today I'm going to talk about self coaching or coaching oneself. It can offer so many benefits for personal and professional development and here are some of the advantages that we we believe on how self coaching can help you. Personally, I've been in the coaching business over 17 years now and what I really found was it's great. I did a lot of one on one sessions, group sessions, speaking, speaking to Fortune 500 companies, to working with professional athletes, Olympic athletes, world class athletes at every different level, elite athletes, high school athletes, weekend warriors or athletes that just wanted to have fun. But what I found was it was those who took that extra responsibility to learn and educate themselves. The benefits were just amazing for them. So I developed this self coaching program for one reason is let's talk about self awareness. So self coaching encourages you to self reflect. I can't be with you all the time. I'm not saying that coaching is not needed or therapy, it's definitely needed. But it's so important that you learn how to coach yourself. You become more self aware of your choices. You take the responsibilities. Another thing is the empowerment of how self coaching empowers you to take charge. Things like self talk. So you could be on a bench or you could be ready to go for a shift in hockey or ready to take your first at bat. No matter what it is, you're ready to run a race. Self talk is so important and it empowers you to really be just that athlete that is going to get yourself like what we call is that ready to play. We talk about the flexibility and convenience. It's great. I mean I used to have an app and we used an app to talk to players and they would usually message me after the after the game. But now with self coaching and you learn a lot of these tools on your own, it will take you in a whole other direction and, and no matter where you are, you could self coach yourself. It's the flexibility of not having to get on the phone and that gets expensive too. You start getting on the phone with your coach or your therapist. But you might need, like I said, and I think it's still great that you do it, but I really want you to take the responsibility to learn how to do this on your own and you'll have the accessibility that allows you to develop yourself so much more. I remember when I was a young athlete, I didn't have a coach by my hand every second. I had to do things on my own, I had to train on my own. But it's great. Like I said, you have a trainer, you have different people. But it's also good to learn how to do things on your own and learn and take the time to develop these tools and these skills that will help take you to the next level. I talked about it being cost effective and I don't want to turn anybody off. Self coaching can be very cost effective. It's a great alternative. If you can't afford to hire a coach, some of us can't afford it. Coaching services are extremely valuable, but they could also be extremely expensive too. You start getting into $200 an hour, $300 an hour, or even $20 an hour could be expensive for some. So that's why I'm trying to give you these tools to help you. And we want to help you through educating and we want you to continuously learn and grow by self coaching. To me, it's an educational process. That's why we provide of our course. We want you to. You can continuously listen to it. You could put it on pause, you could put me on pause right now if you want. And you go back and listen. And so you'll continuously learn and you'll continuously understand the importance of meditation. I first did meditation and imagery back in 1986 for some of those younger athletes out there. Maybe some of the weekend warriors might understand this, but we used to have the cassette tapes and I remember I had a sports psychologist help me do some imagery. I plugged the cassette tape in and I was listening to the sports psychologist talk about having me relax my mind thinking about me being in the middle of the lake on a boat on a nice early morning. The water's quiet and that was great. But now we're going to provide that for you so you can have some walking meditation, some even sleeping meditation. And I'm going to. My goal is to keep providing you these tools at no cost. They're going to be all through your listening experience here and help you improve in all areas. Working on your habits, working on your goals and your plans, all through self coaching. One thing That I found is it takes a lot of work. That's why they call it a mindfulness practice, because you're practicing all the time. But I've had a lot of clients when they were talking to me, okay, we talked once a week, so that's four times a month. What about all those other days? So. And again, I'm going to sound redundant. It is really important to have a coach. It's great to have a therapist. It's good to have those on your side. But this is something that, this is an extra tool for you that you could use that will help you. It will really help boost your knowledge so you understand why you're doing it. You could achieve milestones, your own personal milestones. It gives you the ability to work towards your goals. It helps you with confidence, enables you to tackle problems even on your own, without the support of somebody right next to your side. So I do want you to think about this. Remember, while self coaching can be very beneficial, it's still essential to remain open to seeking external report and feedback when needed. It's very important. I had to be very clear on that. Sometimes working with a professional coach or seeking guidance from mentors or peers can complement and enhance your self coaching journey. And that's what I'm doing. Hoping to do here is to really help you and provide you as many tools as possible for your listening needs and continuously try to help you reach your dreams and goals while being mindful of everything else in your life.
