This next segment we're going to talk about the long term goal. Now if you haven't listened to the measurable goal or the short term goal, it's very important that you go back and listen to it. So let's talk about long term goals now. The way I look at long term goals is three months and out. It could be. Usually for me personally, I like to look at a long term goal between one and three years. Where do I want to be now and where do I want to be in three years and what actionable steps am I going to do to make sure that I get there? We need a roadmap. We talked about. The first thing you need to do is take an assessment. The assessment will show you where you are now, where you need to be. It's a baseline and then from there we learn a little bit about ourself and we want to reach this long term goal. So you take the example of especially a college student and the goal is to finish within four years. Now that's a little bit longer out between one to four. You want to finish and what are you going to do to finish? How are you going to reach these goals? And some of us when we start a business, I've met so many different business leaders and been working with businesses for so long that boy, they want to make money right away, they want to come out of the gate and they want it now. And it's not always going to happen. So you have to set those longer term goals. And it could be sometimes that they say it in some businesses it could take between up to five years to make money. And can you do that if you have your own business? I worked in the franchise business with a couple big franchises and I boy it was frustrating for them. New franchises would come in, they would have like a build out. I don't want to say a name but I worked in the, in the food business at one time with a company and I watched how a lot of people within this, this company, it took forever to make money. What they didn't realize is well, there's a franchise fee, there could be a build out fee, it could be a quarter million dollar build out free. They have to read all the franchising. There's this big huge book that they have to learn the bylaws of a franchise and make sure they're doing it right and really understand it. Even though they're not the franchisor, they still have to understand what they can and can't do and how they have to pay it. And sometimes it takes money. They have to realize maybe sometimes it's going to take to buy two or three of these and how am I going to do that? So overall it sounds like I'm rambling, but. But I know I'm not. This is, for me, this is, it's so important to develop these longer term goals. It also gives us a peace of mind because even an athlete there's like, we talk about sports a lot, but they say, well, I thought this is about business. Each episode I talk about sports because it goes hand in hand over time. Okay, there's an athlete and he wants to play in the big leagues. And you go through a process. The first step is, okay, you play your junior hockey. Let's say we're talking about hockey or you play baseball and you're playing high school baseball. Well, the next step is a lot of us can't go right to the big leagues from there. Well, the next step would be, okay, I want to play college and I want to dominate in college and I'm going to set up my measurable goals, my short term goals while I'm there and my long term goals in the last section is the vision goal. And we're going to get to that in the next segment. But I want to do this. How am I, how am I going to do it? So I want to get through college. And then when you get to college now, you go to a training camp and let's say it's the big league, let's say you were drafted by the New York Yankees, you're going to go to Tampa for spring training. You're not necessarily going to make it. You might have to start in a ball or double A and work your way up. But you want to set yourself up to say, my long term goal is to make this team within two years. And what am I going to do to do that? I'm going to focus on the little things. I'm going to get better. I'm going to do everything I can to manage myself properly, that I could achieve that long term goal. So that's what we talk about when we talk about something in the long term. It's Stretched out things aren't achievable. You have to have patience and we can help you with that. You have to understand, okay, it's not going to happen so quick. And we have setbacks, especially in sports. Here I go back to the sport thing. But boy, you have an injury. Now what? Oh boy, something happened. Look what happened with COVID and how many businesses it affected and people and restaurants and every type of. I think it affected a lot of people I know within different practices that I work with. So we have to prepare for setbacks. Okay, we have a setback. Now what am I going to do? I'm going to share this little tip with you. So when you're developing your long term goal, I always tell people, we say it in sports, you never get too high, you never get too low. You stay neutral and balanced. We talk about that within our assessment. You stay balanced because as fast as things get good, the next day you wake up. It can be bad just as quick. And how do we rebound? Those are the winners. That's the mindset of a champion. So when we say what is a champion mindset? If you look at the Hartman Dot Academy like again, I say this all the time.
