Short-term goals work best when you measure them in days or weeks, not months. Set a five-day task or aim to lose two pounds weekly, then review progress every five games or every three months. Examples span sports, marketing, dental work, and law.

This next segment is on short term goals. So we just talked about measurable goals in the last segment. So if you haven't listened to that, please go back and listen to it because it's very important. Well, the short term goal is something that we're going to focus in on today. Now it's almost like a measurable goal, but we're going to focus it in on today. And I set my measurable goals up for the first three months. So from day one, all the way through three months, I set up my short term goals like a short term goal is okay. For the next five days, I'm going to make sure that I do X, Y and Z within my company to get it going. I'm going to make sure if I'm a marketing person within a business or a dental practice or within a law firm or whatever you do that. If in the next five days I'm going to make sure for the dental practice, I'm going to get butts in the seat, the law practice, I'm going to make sure that if I'm in marketing, I'm going to make sure I get the word out about our company. I'm not a marketing expert. That's not what I do. But I've been doing this coaching for the last 16 years and I know it works. We apply the same things within sports. And I love to give you some examples. Like sometimes people talk about it I mentioned in the last session, well, my measurable goals, I want to lose 30 pounds. Now you can make a little bit of a short term goal. Okay. Usually they say, I'm not a dietitian. We have an excellent one on staff. But we say, okay, I think we want to lose two pounds a week, right? So we want to lose eight pounds in, you know, a month. So we're going to lose maybe the goal is to maybe lose £24. That's the goal. I'm going to follow the appropriate, you know, information I get from the dietitian or whatever you do. You get the idea, what I'm trying to say. It's very important that you set yourself up for short term goals. I use examples. I like to share Things by stories. We were with the New York Rangers and they would evaluate us after every five games. That was a short term goal. So after five games, how do you think you did? So you would sit down with the management, you'd sit down with the coach, the assistant coaches, okay, let's see what we did right. But let's be positive within ourself. We want to help ourself grow. The purpose here is to grow as a person, not to look at all the bad things that didn't happen. Write down your wins. It's not easy to always achieve our goals. That's why we keep working at them. So the short term goal is things we're going to work on from now in the next three months. Now we've talked about measurable goals. We're going to get into like we've got into the short term goals. Next segment is long term goals and the vision goals. And you put some of these goals together and at the end of the day you want to get to where you want to be. That's the whole purpose. And sometimes if you're falling short within an area, okay, how do I get better at this? What can I do to get better? I say this every episode. Go to Hartman Academy if you're listening by podcast. And then the lower corner, we could talk about how to develop short term goals within your business. This is all about business. Like I said, we work with athletes, but I really want to focus on your work talents and making sure that you're achieving your goals. Looking forward to helping, looking forward to leading you and looking forward for you to take the step to reach out so we could help you.
