Hartman.
Welcome back to another episode. And I'm going to go into this series called you. And I believe that everything is all about you. This is what we do. We serve others, we want to help people. And you know, my purpose and objective is to help. This is what I've been doing as a performance coach the past 17 years. We love to help, we love to serve. And that's just something that's, you know, this is within me. This is what we like to do. And I'm just going to take you back a little bit. Again, it's all about you. But the coaches used to say in the old cliche is, ah, the name on the front of the jersey is more important than the name on the back. And yes, I believe the team is everything. I really do. It's all about the team. You have to be a team player. But I also believe the top priority is yourself. How can you say it's, you know, you're not as important? I also used to think about when they send a guy down or they, they cut a player or trade a player that has a family, another player comes in and is taking somebody else's job. Is it really all about the, the name on the front? No. Realistically, you'd be lying. It's about you. Or if you work in corporate America, do you think, you know, you're, are you worried about, I'm not going to take someone's position. They've been here a long time. Absolutely not. You're going to take care of yourself because you have to. It's something that you have to do. You have to create that mindset to make yourself a top priority. Now I know some of you who I've done leadership work is going to say, boy, Mike, you're contradicting yourself. Because in leadership it's always about somebody else. It's not about you. That's Leadership 101. But you also have to manage yourself before you can manage others. So it is about you. It's always about you. And if you're serious about taking major steps in your everyday personal development and reaching what I call is that vision goal, you could take the time to go back to episode 103 and I really get into vision goals and what it is. But vision goal is that dream? What is it that you want to do? A lot of us talk about what we're good at. I see a lot of people that boy, Facebook and social media has become that platform to be a big bragger. But I use this as a platform to help people. I don't consider myself a bragger at all. But my vision was to play in the National Hockey League. That was my vision. What, what is your vision? What are your vision goals? What do you want to do in your life? Do you want to lose weight? Do you want to get in better shape? Do you want to have that big corporate job? Do you want to be a doctor, lawyer, plumber? What is it that your vision goals are there for you? Like, what is it that you want? What is that dream goal? I know as a professional athlete we had to work our way up in order to do that. We always did these, what I call as little things in details. And you've heard me say that before. If you've listened to a lot of our shows, it's always about the little things in details. Always doing the little things to make that vision goal become a reality. If you have any questions about vision goals or you want to help, drop me a line at Hartman Academy. It's right on the homepage. Doesn't cost anything. And myself or one of my coaches or teammates will help you with this. We do have different coaches and team and people that come on our show within these series. I'm also going to be bringing on more subject matter professionals. So feel free to to ask us questions. But we always have that starting point. If you look back, we start with an assessment. We have our online course, which is really amazing. We've given it to thousands of people now. But I want to start with a mind map. And that's the start of your vision goal. Have yourself a little mind map. The definition of a mind map is mapping or a way of thinking of concepts using images or anything that is going to help you circles. I had a good friend, a former professional hockey player that sat down and drew all these circles of his goals and what he believes and how. Like an organizational chart. And he never even heard of the word mind map before. I thought it was amazing. I said, holy cow, you developed this great mind map. He's a big leaguer now, coaching in the big leagues, but he designed this mind map of the organization where he sees certain players. I said, that's your own mind map. You could have your own, or you can go to our website, Hartman Academy. And what you can do is you can download the mind map. And I always believe the mind map has to be very simplified. I keep that in our. Can't take credit for it, my girlfriend, we keep it in our living room. Keep it simple. And you have to keep the mind map very simple. But I like to focus on three areas. The first is the mental toughness. So if you download our map, you will see the mental toughness, whether if it's in your life or sports or whatever you do within your business. And how do you feel? Really? The first part is the mental toughness. How do you feel from the inside out? We call that the intrinsic side. If you're looking for your emotions and your feelings and how do you feel about that? And then I want to talk about the physical. Now, this happens in business. People say, what does that have anything to do with business or my life? Well, we're going to get into that as we continue on through this series. But it's very important. You have to manage yourself inside and out. So the physical is the second part. Are you taking the time to walk, exercise, work on your breathing? Are you doing any meditation? Now, again, this is all part of the mind map that I have. But you could change it, change it to your own, you know, do what's best for you. I love this because I believe that every person, I don't care if it's in sports life, business and sports, you need to work on these three things. Again, the mental toughness was the first part. We're now on the physical side of it. And it's very important, even on the physical that, you know, the weakest link with individuals is what I call is their pillar strength, their core, the physical side. It's like building a house without a foundation. So you need that core strength to do things. And the core people, the core, there's, there's. We're really deep into the core. In fact, we just had a great guest on it. You can go back and listen to, you know, to one of our doctors and who we talked about core training and the importance. That's why I bring on so many great guests. But the core really, to simplify it for you, is the. Is that strength that involves your stomach, abdominals and obliques. Yes, there's more areas to the core, but I'm keeping it really simple so you have that foundation for your strength and then you could start building around that. The other side is your conditioning, which we really Go over in our course how you should do your conditioning and what is aerobic and anaerobic. I'm not going to go into those details as we have that for you. And there isn't any cost to the course. We just asked for a small donation because we do a lot of this. Of course, if you're a corporation, like we deal with many, many corporations that use our program, that's a different story. But we donate that part of it to a good part of it to mental health. When you do buy one of our courses, it's in our community area, but you're welcome to that for yourself if that's something you feel like you need. And then the third part is the nutrition. And we are so fortunate enough to have Cheryl Buckley, our registered dietitian. She has multiple degrees and that's so important. I always believe if you're going to hire somebody or you're going to learn from somebody, learn from the best. Learn from somebody that was there, not somebody that took a six week course and they call themselves a nutritionist and they're only illegally, they're only legally allowed to do so much. And I'm not trying to, you know, talk bad about anybody, but if I'm going to hire somebody, I'm going to hire the best. That's why we bring on our psychologists. I bring on New York Yankees and Mets and a lot of great people because they been there. I can't bring on somebody that just hasn't been there and hasn't walked the walk. That's part of what we do, plus telling it how it is. So it's very important. Those three areas of the mind map is the mental toughness side within your mindset. That's the intrinsic side. I really want you to focus on that. The physical side, which we're going to talk about sleeping and you're going to hear some of our podcasts in the future. But how important sleep is and little tips about sleep that I bet you never knew how important kiwi is. They're going to say what exactly? There's going to be so many things that you haven't heard. And we're going to go within this you series because I want this you series to be all about you. So then the third one is again is the nutrition side of it. So the physical nutrition. So I'm going to leave you with some of these nuggets here and I want you to think about this. We're just focusing on this, on this U series and I believe the good steps is to focus on the word recovery. And I just heard, I'm not sure how true it is. I just heard from somebody today. They told me that Tom Brady is now focusing on all these recovery products, which I think is great. I mean, I'm amazed with a guy like Tom Brady, but we've been doing this recovery training for 15 years, and we always tell people the. Everything is about recovery in life, business and sports. We say the definition of fitness is what the ability to recover. And you heard us talk about that a lot. You know how important recovery is. If you don't have your sleep. Good example. You're not going to recover. Well, personally, I'm not an expert in sleep, but you're going to hear some of our experts talk about sleep in the coming podcast. How important it is that you have seven to eight hours a night. Not looking at your phone, the blue light, a lot of things that you may already know. Not looking at your clock even before going to bed, journaling the negative things that are in your life to get that off your mind. We're going to get. We're not going to get too deep into that. The second thing I want to talk about is being mentally tough. Challenge yourself every day to make good habits. We're going to talk a lot about habits in this U series. The physical side of things, exercising. That doesn't mean you have to do CrossFit or pumping heavy iron. I'm thinking moving, doing whatever you can, building that baseline. I talked about the core earlier on the pillar, strength, building that. The third thing I want to go into is self talk. Now. It does sound corny, really. I see pitchers all the time in the big leagues talk to themselves. I even worked with a major Fortune 500 company and I watched the individual, I walked into their place in New York and I would never say names. And the CEO of this huge company, he was on the computer and he was talking to himself. So I walked in, I knocked on his door because I knew the secretary there at the time. The assistant said, go in the back. And I knock. And I said, what's going on? And he said, just trying to figure some things out. I said, wow, fantastic. This guy's one of the greatest people I've ever met, and they're a huge company in New York City. And he was talking to himself. And I said, can I ask what you're discussing among yourself? He says, yeah, I'm just trying to figure out a little plan in place and what I'm going to do and some reorganizational things. So Self talk is good but it's good self positive talk throughout the day is going to help you and it will really help you. So if you are interested you can go to our website for resources. There's nothing to buy because we do work. We're business to business here. So you can go to Hartman Academy and I know a lot of our people that work within companies are going to our site. But go to hartman academynow.com we have resources. We're going to put up many more articles and feel free. At the bottom of the page, at the very bottom, you could download the Mind map. It's on the homepage. So what you have to do is scroll down all the way to the bottom of the page and we're free too to be there for you to answer questions. So if you have a question, go to our homepage. You'll see the little blue icon. Ask us a question. Hey, I'm struggling with X, Y and Z. There isn't anybody that sees it except us. Hey, I'm struggling within my diet. What do you recommend? Well, I'm not going to recommend anything, but I will pass it on to our dietitian. Hey, I'm really struggling in our life. Well, we've had a handful of psychologists come on to our show regarding mental health. We had, I could think of two that we had that they had their degrees. They're psychologists, they help people. Some of them are PhDs. And we want to help you get better. And our goal is for you to get better. This is why I do this. This is my passion. I've had many opportunities to do different things in life, but I've learned that for me personally. Now I'm this is bragging. I don't know. But I love teaching, I love helping, I love passing on knowledge that has been given to me and what I want to do is pass it on to you. And of course we don't have all the answers here. We're going to keep bringing on subject matter professionals to help you that are strong in those areas that involves that involves life, business and sports. Thank you for listening.
