Answering your thyroid questions!

McCall McPherson explains why thyroid patients often feel tired and foggy even after treatment: adrenal fatigue mimics hypothyroid symptoms. She uses Ashwagandha at night and an adrenal glandular formula in the morning and at lunch, titrated to each patient.

What if I told you at least 85% of my thyroid patients have another issue that's keeping them fatigued, foggy, burnout, feeling so true. I'm McCall McPherson, physician assistant, Thyroid expert and founder at Modern Thyroid Clinic. So what I'm talking about is adrenal fatigue. So when our thyroid isn't functioning well or our medication is inappropriately dosed, our, our adrenal glands, our stress glands, they compensate and they overwork over time. Like anything that we overwork, it leads to burnout. These symptoms mimic hypothyroidism. So you can think that you're still having thyroid problems, but in fact it can be your adrenals fatigue, especially in the late afternoon, brain fog, craving salty snacky foods to get you through the day. All of that sound familiar, right? I want to tell you how I approach this with my patients. Obviously speak with your own doctor, not medical advice, but, but extremely life changing and extremely fast acting. So baseline, the supplement that I give my patients is Ashwagandha. This is not a life changing experience, but it does reduce the amount of time it takes to fix your adrenals in my estimate by about 50%. This is Gaia. I'm not actually brand specific, super easy to get a hold of. I have patients take one to two before bed. They don't notice a whole heck of a lot, but they usually say they sleep more better, more restfully. Excuse me. This is not to make you feel better again, this is to fix your adrenals. But this guy here, orthomoleculars, adrenal is life changing. So it has micronutrients and minerals to help nourish repair your adrenal glands. But it also has cow adrenal gland in it, so it has a glandular product. What does that do? It's the same way that sometimes we give thyroid patients pig thyroid gland. We're giving it to them to make them feel like they don't have a thyroid problem. Same thing here. So this has, you know, things that will repair but also make you feel better. It kicks in in about 30 minutes. It lasts for about three to five hours. So I have my patients take some in the morning and some with lunch. The hardest part about this is there is no one size fits all dose. Okay? It depends how much adrenal function you're missing and that dictates kind of how much you need. So I have my patients start with one in the morning and afternoon, hold there for three to seven days and slowly increase by one each time until they feel clear alert, engaged, motivated. If you get too much, you feel kind of jittery and stimulated, you back off by one the next day. So again, check with your doctor. This is not medical advice, but this is something that I use all day every day in my practice with my patients and they often report that it's equally as life changing as thyroid medication. You can find all of this on our store in my profile, so check there. Here it is. One more time. I hope it helps you guys. You all have to let me know what you think. Post your questions in the comments and save.
