McCall McPherson recommends Armor thyroid and Cytomel as her top two thyroid medications. Armor provides both active and inactive hormones plus cofactors, while Cytomel is an active T3 that can be combined with levothyroxine-based drugs like Synthroid. Hands down, my top two thyroid medications period, if I had to pick two are number one, armor thyroid. So armour is a form of natural desiccated thyroid. It's part inactive and part active thyroid hormone. So it gives your body a little bit of the two most important hormones along with some cofactors. It is absolutely the medication that changed my life and gave me back my life when I was in my own thyroid crisis. So yeah, number two is cytomel. The generic form of cytomel is lyothyronine and this is my favorite because it can easily, easily be blended with medications that most people are already on like levothyroxine, synthroid, tirosint, levoxal which are all inactive hormone. Cytomel is all active hormone. And so those of you who feel horrible, don't feel well and are on thyroid meds most often it's because you're not activating your hormone and adding cytomel or lyothyrenine is the perfect solution for so darn many people. I hope that helps.
