McCall McPherson talks with an expert about perimenopause, when estrogen drops and causes hot flashes, night sweats, and weight gain. Low progesterone triggers severe PMS symptoms. Progesterone replacement is cheap, safe, and can regulate periods and help with PCOS.
And then as perimenopause goes along, then estrogen's also going down. And we can then start to see low estrogen symptoms even before you're in full menopause. And, you know, full menopause is 12 months without a period. But, you know, certainly before that time, you can have low estrogen symptoms, too, which is classically hot flashes and night sweats and, you know, weight, more weight gain and things like that.
Yeah. Vaginal dryness. And especially, like women, I notice, will have that leading up to their period. Right. As they get farther and farther into the perimenopause journey. And so much of the time, women are just suffering through it. And I know, especially like you mentioned, the low progesterone symptoms, those are absolutely debilitating for a lot of women. Like, it ruins their relationships. Like, it impacts so many aspects of their lives, and it's. I mean, it's such a fixable problem. Tell me kind of your favorite way to address low progesterone.
My favorite way is just to give you progesterone. Progesterone is. It's. It's inexpensive, it's very easy to use, and it is very safe. And so, you know, starting in perimenopause or even in premenopause, if you have someone who has a lot of PMS symptoms, you know, or polycystic ovarian syndrome or anything where you have irregular periods, progesterone can be really helpful to help regulate periods and also to protect you from the. From estrogen, from too much estrogen.
