McCall McPherson (creator/uploader) delivers a short, first-person YouTube message about postpartum anxiety, arguing that low progesterone—particularly during prolonged breastfeeding—can drive anxiety, irritability, insomnia, and that bioidentical long-acting progesterone can often relieve symptoms quickly (speaker asserts relief within ~72 hours). The speaker contrasts this with antidepressants, which she says may take weeks to months to affect anxiety, and advises consulting an OB or psychiatrist; she suggests combined approaches and encourages sharing the message.

So a one of my favorite tick tock influencers became a new mom recently. I love her. She did a post this week about her experience with postpartum anxiety and how she's likely going to get put on medication. And I am all for especially like antidepressants for anxiety. They can be profoundly life changing. Like I am not an anti postpartum treatment girl. I'm not. But the message that I did want to spread today is very commonly a root cause of postpartum anxiety is low progesterone postpartum, especially when we're breastfeeding in a more prolonged manner, our hormones go into a suppressed state and low progesterone triggers feelings of anxiety, irritability, uneasiness, insomnia, which is really often masked postpartum because we never get to sleep anyway. And the cool thing about knowing that and being empowered to know that is that it is often fixable in a matter of 72 hours. So you know, of course if you're having postpartum anxiety and it's important to talk to your OB or your psychiatrist about the possibility of needing an antidepressant. So sadly, antidepressants often take upwards of three months to kick in for anxiety. They kick in a lot quicker for depression, but even that takes weeks slash months. But supplementing with a bioidentical form of long acting, specifically progesterone can alter someone's mood and tendency for postpartum anxiety immediately. Almost so doesn't have to be an either or, it totally can be a both and and it is a way that people can get relief from from a profoundly uncomfortable and desperate feeling emotion really quick. So save this and share this with someone that you know that may be experiencing postpartum anxiety.
