Now, there are scenarios where the ISA genuinely wins the argument, and I want to name them for you, honestly. So if you have fully used your £60,000 annual pension allowance and you've used your carry forward from previous years, you don't have much choice. The ISA becomes your best option, not the SIPP. 2, if your expected retirement income is very high, if your NHS pension plus State Pension plus SIPP Drawdown consistently pushes you into the higher rate tax band in retirement. The ISA becomes increasingly valuable as a complement to the SIPP because the ISA exit is always 100% tax-free regardless of how much you withdraw in a single year. If you draw heavily from a SIPP in one year, you can find yourself in a higher tax band than expected, but if you draw from an ISA any amount any year, HMRC gets nothing. on that other end.
