Ndubuisi Egwim teaches doctors that taking extra shifts won't fix financial problems rooted in spending leaks. He uses a transfusion metaphor: adding more blood without stopping the bleeding just makes the problem bigger. Find where your money goes first.

So I see this pattern constantly after having taught 4,400 doctors. The doctor notices they are not getting ahead financially, and almost automatically they do the same thing. They pick up an extra shift, another locum, another weekend, another clinic, or even just start a side hustle. The solution always seems to be earn more money, just earn more money. But imagine a patient who is bleeding, and instead of finding where the blood is coming from, we just keep giving them more and more transfusions. Blood goes in, blood comes straight out. So we transfuse again. I mean, that's essentially what some doctors are doing financially. Working harder without fixing the structure underneath doesn't necessarily solve a problem. Sometimes it simply makes the same leak bigger. So before you automatically pick up the next extra shift or start that side hustle, ask yourself, do I actually need to earn more? Is that the issue? Or do I first need to understand where the money I'm already earning is going? Do I have leaks that I can fix? Sometimes the breakthrough is not another shift or side hustle or another role. It's stopping the leaks that are already there. So the final Tax X-Ray workshop this summer is on Saturday, 5th September by 10:30 AM. If you'd like to join us to find your tax leaks, comment X-Ray and I'll send you the details. Cheers.
