The Survey of 1,500 UK Doctors Revealed Something Uncomfortable

In this video, Ndubuisi 'Andy' Egwim presents findings from a Moneywise Doctor survey of roughly 1,500 UK physicians. The data show that 71% feel financially behind, 67% worry about insufficient retirement savings, 41% lack a 3‑to‑6‑month emergency fund, and 55% have no proper financial protection. Egwim explains that doctors fall into two broad camps: (1) high earners with little financial independence and poor tax efficiency, essentially a "leaky bucket" where money flows in and out without a system; and (2) those with fragmented, patchwork financial arrangements—ISAs, SIPs, wealth managers, crypto, buy‑to‑lets—without an integrated plan, making it impossible to assess progress toward financial independence. He emphasizes that these issues are not the doctors' fault, but stem from a lack of coordinated financial strategy and review.
