2023, Starpoint Church is beginning a new growth group, uh, called Celebrate Freedom. Focus of the growth group will be Christian recovery and discipleship, and the meetings are coming soon. So what is Celebrate Freedom? Celebrate Freedom is all about Christian discipleship and renewing the mind, knowing who we are in Christ, as Romans 12 1 and 2 tell us. And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice, the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him. Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God's will for you. Which is good and pleasing and perfect. And that's what the, the group will be all about, about learning about who we are in Christ and how to live the Christian life authentically. And what are we going to do at this group called Celebrate Freedom? Well, there's, there's a way, uh, the way of Jesus, and we're going to follow what he says. And it'll incorporate lessons from the the Celebrate Recovery curriculum and elements from the Freedom in Christ course from Freedom in Christ Ministries. So it's recovery and discipleship. It's a community. It is a 12-step program based on 8 biblical principles. It's Christ-centered and its focus will be biblical wisdom application. It's a community of support and accountability. And it's all about experiencing a new life, a new lifestyle of faith. And it's about progress, not perfection. Um, it'll incorporate forgiveness and making amends, and it's confidential, so there's no fear. And if you follow this way, there will be victory, and there is no stigma and no shame. And what can Celebrate Freedom help you with? Well, uh, with Celebrate Freedom, we, we— our emphasis is to show that freedom is possible. And if you're in need of healing or recovery from abuse, or verbal, physical, or sexual, alcohol, anger, anxiety, codependency, depression, disappointments in life, divorce issues, drugs, eating disorders, enabling, faith doubts, family problems, fear, gambling, grief, loss, guilt, insecurity, job loss, lying, need to control, overspending, overworking, perfectionism, pornography, relational pain, sexual addiction, self-destruction, shame, stress, and unforgiveness. Well, God can help you with that, and he'll help you when you decide to follow him. And one way to do that is to join a community like Celebrate Freedom. To have God take away all these things. Celebrate Freedom incorporates the truth of God's Word. Discipleship is being a student of Jesus Christ, and how to live the Christian lifestyle of freedom will be following His Word, so it includes Bible study, what the word actually says. It's about understanding and apologetics, what we believe and why we believe it. It's about our identity, who you are in Christ, and it's about equipping. It's about building each other up with the truth. At Celebrate Freedom, we seek to show you that Jesus is love and and, uh, the Bible contains the wisdom we need, and it's about teaching, inspiring, motivating, and empowering Christians to live the abundant life that God has for them. The discipleship elements in Celebrate Freedom will be based on the Freedom in Christ course from Dr. Neil Anderson and the Freedom in Christ Ministries, basically we're just going to teach you who you are in Christ and how to best live that life and possibly resolve, uh, spiritual and personal problems through the renewing of your mind, simply knowing who you are in Christ. In Celebrate Freedom!, we really hope to encourage you to know the life that Christ has given you. A life of meaning and purpose. That way you can maintain your freedom. And it's about action. It's about stepping out in faith. It could be about community service, showing God's love and sharing God's love with kindness and love in action. And it could even be about community outreach, sharing the reason for our hope with the people out, out in the world that desperately need to know that there's a meaning and purpose in life and that all the answers are found through Jesus Christ. And Celebrate Freedom is about discipleship, but don't worry, um, we're just following Jesus. So we follow his teachings. It's not about following a person or some leader. It's about your personal relationship with God and following Jesus. You become a student and you apply his lessons to your life individually. But we live out our life of Christian discipleship in community. It's about finding your purpose and knowing that your story is still unfolding and that you have a reason, you have a purpose that is greater than any challenges you face. And Celebrate Freedom gives you the community where you can Live out your Christian faith and experience the peace, love, joy, and freedom that comes from living the way God would have you live. The Celebrate Freedom Community Growth Group will meet at Starpoint Church beginning in Wednesday— Wednesdays in May. But if you want to join our community now, um, our church community, you can, uh, find services on Sundays at 8:30 10:30 and 11:30 at 14 Giroux Place in Clifton Park.
