In this video, I'm going to share with you 4 concrete things that you can do to be more confident, more likable, and more like a leader without seeming arrogant. So stay tuned. So self-confidence is something that everybody wants. The thing is that we don't always know that we can actively create confidence in our lives. So the first thing is to accept that no matter what, everybody is judging you. They're either judging you positively or they're judging you negatively. For example, if the thought they had about you was, wow, she seems very self-assured, that would be good. Or if he's— if they thought to themselves, wow, he seems shy. However, the thing about being confident is that when you are self-confident, you are subconsciously people how to think about you. You're subconsciously teaching others how to perceive you. And since we're all judging anyway, this is a really great thing to be able to control. So when people see that you are certain of yourself, you are well-liked, you are teaching others that they also need to see you in that same way. Teach others how to treat you by how you treat yourself. So you're probably wondering how to do this, right? How exactly can you instruct people how to treat you? How can you be self-confident? Well, you can't control how people think of you because either way they're going to have their opinion. However, you can stack the deck in your favor by appearing self-confident, and it means that by generating the feelings of self-confidence, you can help to sway people's opinions of you by instructing them how they should judge you. So by showing people that you are well-liked, they are more likely to like you too. So how do you do that? The answer is you have to like yourself. You can't show people how well-liked you are by telling them how much everybody else likes you, because that would be weird. But you can show them by liking yourself when you show up. The reason why I'm bringing this up is because a lot of people in interviews, they seem— they kind of put themselves down very subtly. So if you show up and you treat yourself with respect, not bragging or arrogant, but you treat yourself nicely, kindly, and you treat others nicely, kindly, people will start to subconsciously like you more. And a lot of people are super self-deprecating, especially in interviews, and they don't even realize it. They may even use humor to put themselves down. This does not make you look more self-confident at all. Even if it gets a bit of a laugh, it's probably a nervous laugh or an uncomfortable laugh. They still have the ability to make up their own mind about you. However, this is going to really help if you are kind to yourself. So when you're kind to yourself, that means, for example, when you tell them about a mistake you made or you tell them about a failure you had, you tell them how you handled that in a way to help you learn and grow instead of beating yourself up about it. For example, would you rather hang out with somebody or follow someone on social media who's putting themselves down all the time, beating themselves up all the time, or would you rather follow someone who is happy with themselves and, you know, kind of likes themselves? We follow what others do. So people like things that lots of other people like. So if someone recommends a restaurant, for example, I love this place, it's so good, you have to check it out, you're probably going to want to go try it, right? So it's the same with you. You treat yourself nicely, other people are going to want to treat yourself nicely, and other people are going to like you too. Self-confidence makes it easy for people to like us because we like ourselves. So when we are instructing others to like us, all we're doing is being nice to ourselves. Know that having self-confidence suggests leadership. As humans and pack animals, we want to find the leader. We always want to know either who we're leading or, or who we're following. Self-confidence is one of the main traits of a leader, so we listen to them, we follow them, And we try to help them and sometimes we emulate them. Have you ever been in a situation where you're put into a random group and the instructor said, okay, pick the leader of the group and everyone points to the same person? That person exudes self-confidence. It exudes positivity to be self-confident. It always— it's always interesting and it's always attractive when you're self-confident. We love to be around people who make us feel better and self-confident people have positive thoughts about themselves, which in turn create positive thoughts towards us. Self-confident people do not feel the need to put others down or judge others to feel good about themselves. They are just really fun to be around. So I'm not talking about arrogant people. The difference between self-confident and arrogant is that arrogant people are thinking and, and exuding an energy of, I am better than you, I am superior to you, and that doesn't work. But as long as you're confident in yourself, Then you have nothing to worry about. Arrogant people come, come off from insecurity. They're trying to be better than everyone else so that they can feel better about themselves. So to recap what you learned today, when you like yourself, you show up confidently and you're able to make a better impression and help others treat you better and like you better. And when you show up like that, you're subconsciously suggesting that you have leadership skills and that you might be a good leader in the future. And that you're well-liked.
