What's actually in the Book of Mormon- Live Study Session

In this live YouTube session, Nathan Payne walks viewers through his personal morning scripture study, using it as a platform to explain the contents of the Book of Mormon, specifically focusing on 1 Nephi chapter 11. He emphasizes that his goal is to inform seekers about what the Book of Mormon actually says—not to prove its truth—by summarizing the narrative of Nephi’s vision (the tree of life, the angel, the virgin Mary, the birth, ministry, crucifixion, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, as well as symbolic elements like the iron rod, the great and spacious building, and the pride of the world). Payne also addresses the challenges of archaic 19th‑century language, demonstrating how he looks up definitions to aid understanding. Throughout, he shares his own disciplined morning routine (prayer, scripture study, gratitude journaling) as a model for spiritual growth, especially for those with ADHD. He defends the authenticity of the Book of Mormon’s translation by the “gift and power of God,” counters skeptics, and invites viewers to ask questions, emphasizing personal revelation through the Holy Ghost as the primary way to know truth. The session blends instructional, testimonial, and apologetic elements while maintaining a conversational, encouraging tone.
Chapters
All right, what is going on everybody? Today I'm going to be going over my morning scripture study. For anyone that's watching this, um, I'm just doing this because I find out that a lot of people don't know what's inside the Book of Mormon, and, uh, I want to let people know that the book does bring people closer to Christ. It's brought me closer to Christ, and I study the scriptures every morning. I study the Book of Mormon, I study the Bible, I pray before I study, I ask God to help me understand what his will is that day and throughout my whole life. So, um, I do this anyway. And there's someone that recently is, um, in my area where I live in, uh, that's joining the church after I shared the gospel with him. And, uh, he, he let me know that the scriptures— he's really enjoying reading the Book of Mormon and the Bible and the scriptures, but he doesn't really understand it completely just because it's written in Old English. So my goal is just to explain what's going on in the scriptures in the Book of Mormon. I'm already studying them in the morning, so I figured why not, why not just go and, um, you know, break it down as I've, uh, you know, I've been reading them my whole life. I've prayed to know if they're true, and, um, you know, I figured, hey, this would be a good opportunity for me to just, you know, just do it live, record it, and then explain it so I can share it with, uh, not only him but the world. Anyone that's really earnestly seeking to know what's inside the Book of Mormon not to know if it's true or not, because I can't convince anyone if anything's true. You have to find out for yourself. And even as you— one of the stories in the Book of Mormon, in the very first part of Nephi, it's in chapter 3, um, one of the, one of the people in the Book of Mormon, they see an angel, but they still doubt what the angel tells them to do. So, you know, even if you see, seeing is not believing. You have to feel. You have to feel it. And a lot of people don't really trust the feeling, or even think about the feeling of the Holy Ghost, like the feeling they get in the heart. Some people say it's a gut feeling. A lot of people don't think that that's like a valid, um, way of learning, but it is. It's actually one of the best ways to learn other than, you know, seeing through your— learning through your brain, sight, hearing, smelling, touching. But the feeling that you get, that is something that God has given us so we may know the truth. So, um, anyway, This is what it's about, and I'm just letting you guys know as I get the streams live, 'cause again, I like to do this live just 'cause I'm doing it anyway, why not? And I'm kinda quiet, I am excited, I like getting up every morning and getting after my day, but I have to be quiet just because I'm redoing my shop and it's a big space, so if I talk really loud and get pumped, it's, the echo's pretty bad, so, you know, that's why. So let me, I'm just letting you guys know straight up, up front what this is about while I get the streams ready. And, uh, yeah, we're gonna get into— I'm really excited about it. So I do like another intro if you're watching this live. I do another intro because I, uh, I put this on YouTube, um, as a video if you guys want to rewatch it. But, uh, let me— I think I'm ready to go. I just want to explain all that. All right, today I'm— guys, blew that one. Okay, today I'm going to be going over what's happening in the Book of Mormon in chapter 11 uh, specifically. And if I can get on to more before my baby wakes up, since I am doing this live, um, I will. But the purpose of this series is just to let people know what's inside the Book of Mormon. It's not to convince anyone that it's true. It's mainly just to let people know what's inside the Book of Mormon, because I believe a lot of people, they immediately say, oh, you know, I don't know if that's true or not, I'm just gonna not believe it. And they don't really know the content of it. So my goal is to explain to the world, uh, what this, what's going on in the story in simple terms because it is written in Old English. And yes, I, I invite everyone to study the Book of Mormon and the scriptures, the Bible, um, but it can be a little difficult if you're not, uh, new— if you are new to studying, um, the, the old kind of the old terminology, and there's a lot of big words in there. But anyway, I'm going to try and explain it to the best of my ability. This is for anyone that's an earnest seeker of the truth or someone that wants to find out the truth, uh, Yeah, this is just an explanation of trying to make it simple. This is not a replacement for scripture study. I would invite you guys to get your scriptures, uh, get the Book of Mormon. I can send you a free copy if you want, and just study it. Just read it. Just read it and ask God if it's true, because that's the invitation. The invitation is just to read and ask God, because that's how you will know the truth of all things, is just through praying and asking God, right? It's really hard to trust these days what you see. A lot of people say seeing is believing, but now these days that's not really necessarily true. Seeing is not just believing, because There's a lot of things that people see that aren't real anymore, especially with AI. I barely know if it's AI or not. So anyway, guys, I wanted to, uh, this is what we're going to be going over today is, uh, chapter 11 and on. All right, so right here, um, I'm going to explain what's going on in the Book of Mormon so far, uh, up to this point. So right here, um, if you guys can see this, this is kind of like gibberish. If you guys watched the previous days, then you kind of would understand, but I'm going to explain the story up to this point very quickly. All right, so in the Book of Mormon— let me change this color real quick, where's my red? All right, so in the Book of Mormon, this is what's happening. So there's a family in Jerusalem, all right, and it's— there's a prophet, his name is Lehi, and he's commanded to tell the people in Jerusalem that they need to repent. He tells them that the Savior is coming, and everyone kind of gets mad because, uh, they're like, don't tell us what to do. Don't tell us about a savior. Don't tell us to repent. And he's like, guys, if you don't repent, Jerusalem will be destroyed. So they don't listen to him and actually threaten to kill his life and try to kill him. So God gives him a dream and says, take your family and get— I have a promised land that I prepared for you. I need you to go there, but you need to leave or they're going to kill you. So God has prepared him a promised land in the Americas that he journeys to with his family. But there's a couple things he has to do before he goes there, and This story, it's his dealings, God's dealings with his children. And, um, what happens is when Lehi leaves after chapter 1 and 2 to get the wilderness, he goes, he travels 3 days down, um, which is south. He travels 3 days down south along the borders of the Red Sea. This explains all this. As he goes down, God tells him in a dream, hey, you actually have to go back, send your sons Nephi, Laman, Lemuel, and Sam— those are his 4 sons— send them back to go get the plates of brass because he says, we need— you need the Law of Moses, you need the Commandments with you as you go down. So he— they go get the plates. It's a pretty wild story. They get the plates in 3, chapter 3. After they get the plates, they return. As they return, the dad says, hey, you actually need— we actually need to bring, um, some, uh, the family of Ishmael with us because eventually you guys are going to get married and we need to have posterity, we need to raise families. So they go and get the family of Ishmael. So they go back, and that's— that happens around this part. Now, when they get back later, as I explained in, uh, verses, um, 8, 9, 10. That's what we went over yesterday. Not verses, chapters. Um, they come back with the family of Ishmael, um, and, uh, Laman and Lemuel, Nephi's brothers, try to kill him on the way back down because they don't like Nephi. They, they think he's trying to like tell them everything to do. They're pretty prideful, so they're just like, uh, Nephi, don't tell us what to do. Unfortunately, they, uh, they, they're a big problem later in on the journey. But they come back, and, uh, as they come back, Lehi, he sees a vision as they come back and celebrate that everyone's back. Lehi sees and has another dream of a tree of life, okay? And the tree is a representation of God's love. And Lehi's pretty bummed because his sons Laman and Lemuel do not go to the tree. Nephi and Sam and his wife do. Um, so basically that's symbolic of his sons Laman and Lemuel choose not to follow God and partake of the fruit of his love. And, um, What ends up happening is, again, they're a problem later on, and he's pretty bummed about it. So at the end of chapter 10— and Nephi's explained that he's writing all the things down that his father said— and at the end of chapter 10, Nephi asks God, hey God, I really want to know if what my dad's saying is true. I want to understand it. Because Lehi's told his whole family about the dream of the tree and the visions he's been seeing, and it's hard for Laman and Lemuel to believe their dad. They think he's a visionary, a crazy— they think he's seeing visions and he's crazy. But Nephi, instead of going against his father— and, you know, he honors his father and his mother, right? He keeps one of the Ten Commandments where to honor your father and mother— he goes and asks God if these things that he's been seeing are true. Okay? And he knows that through the power of the Holy Ghost, he can know if these things are true. So that's where we're at right now. That was a quick summary. So, um, let's go right into it. So Nephi, after he's praying to know if these things that his father have seen are true, it says, for it came to pass that I had desired to know the things that my father had seen, and believing that the Lord was able to make them known unto me, as I sat pondering in my heart, I was caught up in the Spirit of the Lord, yea, it was into an exceedingly high mountain which I never had seen before and upon which I had never set my foot. So I've really liked this scripture throughout my life is he was sat pondering in his heart, right? He was reflecting. So when we pray, sometimes we, uh, we just hope we get the answer immediately, but sometimes it requires sitting, pondering, thinking, being still. And, uh, and I don't do that a lot, right? I pray and then I'm just like, boom, look, I want the answer. Now, as you guys know, that in the previous chapter Nephi was praying then, so this must have been like a process of him praying and trying to find out instead of something immediate. But anyway, he's sitting and he's pondering, and he's caught away in the spirit into an exceedingly high mountain. All right, so, um, and whether this is a vision or he's actually caught up— I guess you could say he actually caught up— but, um, he's taken to a mountain. All right, in, in this, uh, this story he's telling us, or this vision. And he says, which I had never seen and upon which I had never set my foot. And the Spirit said unto me, behold, what desirest thou? And I said, I desire to behold the things which my father saw. So he's like, the Spirit says, what do you want? And he says, I want to see what my dad saw. And the Spirit said unto him, believest thou that thy father saw the tree of which he has spoken? It's like, do you think your dad actually saw what he saw? And Nephi says, yea, thou knowest I believe all the words of my father. He's like, yeah, I believe what my dad's got to say. And when I had spoken these words, the Spirit cried with a loud voice, saying, Hosanna to the Lord, the Most High God, for he is God over all the earth, yea, even above all. And blessed art thou, Nephi, because thou believest in the Son of the Most High God. So this— the Spirit of the Lord is saying you're blessed for believing in God and the Son of the Most High God. Okay. Wherefore thou shalt behold the things which thy father— which thou hast desired. So he's like, because you have your faith, you're going to see what your father saw. And behold, this thing shall be given unto thee for a sign, that after thou hast beheld the tree which bore the fruit which thy father tasted, thou shalt also behold a man descending out of heaven, and him shall ye witness, and after ye have witnessed him, ye shall bear record that it is the Son of God. So, right, if you guys haven't watched the other or read— watched the other videos I've made or read, um, you know, verses, uh, so I gotta get rid of that one. If you haven't read the chapters 1 through 10, every chapter testifies of Jesus Christ. Lehi sees Jesus Christ descending and the 12 apostles in chapter 1. He is commanded to go get the plates that testify of Christ. He has visions and, uh, and dreams of Jesus Christ. He prophesies that Christ will come and die for the sins of the world. So just 10 chapters into the Book of Mormon, it's every chapter is testifying of Jesus Christ in the coming. And that's actually why Lehi had to leave Jerusalem, is because he was telling people about the Messiah, and everyone's like, don't tell us about a Messiah, um, you don't know what you're talking about, and we don't need to repent and change our lives, we're going to kill you. So Lehi leaves and takes this journey with his family because of his faith in Christ, because he is blessed and keeps the commandments of God and does what God has asked him to do to this point. So that's what's going on. All right, and he says that Nephi is going to see in this vision, he's going to see the Son of God descending. And it came to pass that the Spirit said unto me, look. And I looked and beheld the tree, and it was like unto the tree which my father had seen, and the beauty thereof was far beyond, um, yea, exceeding of all beauty, and the whiteness thereof did exceed the whiteness of the driven snow. The cool thing I like about scripture notes that I'm using is if you don't really know what something means, you can— you look at the dictionary that in 1828, that the terminology of they were using back in the day when Joseph Smith translated the Book of Mormon through the gift and power of God. A lot of people that don't believe that this is the word of God, which is okay, I understand a lot of people don't, they think Joseph Smith just memorizes this whole story and then in one sitting— not one sitting, but one time— he was able to like verbally tell this to because Joseph Smith in 65, less than 65 working days, was able to verbally, orally just tell this story. And people are like, oh, he just memorized this whole thing about Jesus and someone wrote it down. He's just an evil genius. But that we all know, that's not— everyone knows, but I know that's not true. That's not possible. This was done by the gift and power of God. But the reason why I'm bringing this up is sometimes there's words that we don't know. And obviously Joseph Smith, with a second grade education, wouldn't have known. Like, driven— what, what does driven snow mean? So I look up those words, okay? So it says urged forward by force, impelled to move, constrained by necessity. So he's saying is the whiteness of the, um, impelled to move, constrained by necessity. It's a very interesting word to use in that. Still doesn't make sense to me, but driven snow. And it And it came to pass, after I had seen the tree, I said unto the Spirit, I beheld thou hast shown unto me the tree which is precious above all. And he said unto me, What desirest thou? So he's like, I see the tree, and the Spirit's like, what else do you desire? And I said unto him, I desire to know the interpretation thereof. What does the tree mean? Okay, again, for scripture notes, if you guys don't know what that means, the act of interpreting, the act of expounding, unfolding. The sense, the power of explaining. He's like, I want to know what the tree is about. Okay, I usually highlight these if I look up the word. Um, therefore I spake unto him as a man speaketh. Okay, for I beheld that he was in the form of a man, yet nevertheless I knew that it was the Spirit of the Lord, and he spake unto me as a man speaketh with another. So Nephi says that the Spirit of the Lord is a man. Okay, and he does not have the form— he's in the form of a man, but he does not have a body because he's a spirit. Okay, all right, so if any of you guys are wondering, the Holy Ghost is a man and he does not have a body, he has a spirit. Okay, and it came to pass that he said unto me, look. And I looked as if to look upon him, and I saw him not, for he had gone from before my presence. Okay, so the spirit in this moment's gone, and he sees another vision. And it came to pass that I looked and beheld the great city of Jerusalem and also other cities. So whether this is like one giant vision that he's seen from the, the mountain, or or where— if he's being taken these places, I don't know, but he's explaining it. So he looks and he beholds the city of Jerusalem, okay, and others also, other cities, all right. So he's— Nephi's saying right here— let's erase this— he's saying the city of Jerusalem at this time, all right, that's what he's saying, and also other cities. And I beheld the city of Nazareth, okay, and in the city of Nazareth I beheld a virgin and she was exceedingly fair and white. Okay, so he sees— who is this? The Virgin Mary, Jesus's mother. And it came to pass that I saw the heavens open, and the angel came down and stood before me and said unto me— so this is the angel now that came before him. All right, so an angel comes down and says, Nephi, what do you see, basically? And he said, I see a virgin, most precious and most beautiful and fair above all the virgins. I think I looked this up because I was curious to see what the word is for virgin back in the day. A woman who has not had carnal knowledge of man, a woman not a mother. Okay, so that's a good definition for it. Like, she's a woman, she's not a mother yet. The sign Virgo, pure, untouched as virgin gold, fresh, new, unused, virgin soil. Okay, so he sees that there's a woman that's not a mother. All right. And he said unto me, knowest thou the condescension of God? That's another word we gotta look up. What does condescension mean? Descent from rank, dignity, or just claims. Relinquish of strict right. Submission to inferiors in granting requests or performing acts which strict justice does not require, hence courtesy. It forbids pride and commands humility, modesty, and condescension to others. So we all know that there was a condescension of the Savior, right? He came down, he descent from rank, dignity, or just claims, relinquishes strict rights. So he was able— he did it in humility, modesty. He came down to the earth and became, um, you know, a baby, right? Like, he was born, and the Son of God took on, um, the mortal body, and he showed us the way. So that's, that's what he's saying. Knowest thou the condescension of God? And Nephi, at this point, he's like, I said unto him, I know that he loveth his children. Nevertheless, I do not know the meaning of all things. He's like, I have no idea what you're talking about. I don't know. And he said unto me, behold, the virgin whom thou seest is the mother of the Son of God after the manner of the flesh. Okay, I found that really interesting that they had to point out that it was after the mother, after the manner of the flesh. So if Jesus Christ is with the Father and this is his mother after the manner of the flesh, does he have a mother in the manner of his spirit before he was, um, you know, came down to earth and had, uh, had a mother in the flesh? I don't, I don't know. It's just spec— I don't know these things, but it's interesting. And it came to pass that I beheld that she was carried away in the spirit. Okay, so a lot of people are like, well, how did, um, how did she get Jesus in like, you know, how did she become pregnant with Jesus? Well, this explains that she was carried away in the spirit. And after she had been carried away in the spirit for the space of a time, the angel spake unto me, saying, look. And I looked and beheld the virgin again bearing a child in her arms. So after she was carried away in the spirit, right, and that's what the Bible says, right, she was taken up in the spirit, she beheld the child in her arms. And the Lamb of God— sorry, and the angel said unto me, behold the Lamb of God, yea, even the Son of the Eternal Father, Okay, so in this vision he sees the Tree of Life, and he— and he's like— the angel's like, do you know what that means? And he's like, no, I don't. And he's like, all right. And then he shows him the Virgin, and he's like, hey, do you know what the Virgin is? And he's like, do you know the condescension of God? And he's like, I don't. And he's like, all right, well, I'm going to show you that the Virgin is his mother, and after the manner of the flesh, and that after she's carried away in the spirit, she is You know, she has the Son of God in her arms, the eternal— the Son of the Eternal Father. Um, so then he goes back and says, knowest thou the meaning of the tree which thy father saw? And I answered him, saying, yea, it is the love of God. So now Nephi gets it. He's like, the tree that my father was eating the fruit of and he wanted us to partake of is the love of God, which sheddeth itself abroad in the hearts of the children of men, wherefore is the most desirable of all things. It is true that the love of God is the most desirable of all things. Now, the world might think that there's other things that are better, but there's nothing better than following God and being in his presence and the love he has for you. And he spake unto me, saying, Yea, and the most joyous to the soul, which it is. Yes, the angel says it is the most joyous to the soul. There's nothing that can replace it. You can look for money, you can look for things, you can look for the worldly things— nothing replaces it. And after he said that, these words, he said unto me, look. And I looked, and I beheld the Son of God going forth among the children of men, and I saw many fall down at his feet and worship him. So Nephi is not only seeing the birth, right, like, uh, the Virgin, uh, Maria, um, or Mary, he sees the Mother of God, uh, he also sees her carrying in his arms. Then he sees the Son of God going forth and ministering and going through his ministry and teaching and healing. And he saw many fall down at his feet and worship him, and And it came to pass that I beheld that the rod of iron— this is back in the dream— which my father had seen was the word of God. Okay, what is the word of God? It's the teachings, it's the gospel, it's what God wants you to follow, which led to the fountain of living waters or the tree of life. Okay, so what is the word of God? What does the iron rod do? It guides you. The word of God guides you to God's love and it guides you to eternal life, which waters are a representation of God's love. And I also beheld that the tree of life was a representation of God's love. So that's what Lehi's dream of the tree and the rod are. And the angel said unto me again, look and behold the condescension of God. Okay, again, this is the condescension— is him coming down into the mortal ministry, uh, his mortal ministry on earth, and coming down from heaven. And I looked and beheld the Redeemer of the world, of whom my father had spoken. I also beheld the prophet who should prepare the way before him. So he sees John the Baptist, and the Lamb of God went forth and was baptized of him. And after he was baptized, I beheld the heavens open and the Holy Ghost come down out of heaven and abide upon him in the form of a dove. So he sees the baptism of Jesus Christ, and, uh, that he— after he gets baptized, the, the Holy Ghost comes down and descends like a dove. And I beheld in that he went forth ministering unto the people in power and great glory, and the multitudes were gathered together. To hear him. And I beheld that they cast him out from among them. So he sees that Jesus Christ in his ministry went out with power, and he was crushing it, right? Like, he was— without trying to be like not sacred about it, he was just going out and, you know, in glory. And people were coming together, and unfortunately he saw that they cast him out from among them. They denied the Christ, right? A lot of people didn't believe. Them. And I also beheld 12 others following him. And it came to pass that they were carried away in the spirit from before my face, and I saw them not. So he sees the 12 apostles. And it came to pass that the angel said unto me, look again, saying— again, the angel spake unto me again, saying, look. And I looked, and I beheld the heavens open again, and I saw angels ascending upon the children of men, and they did minister unto them. And he spake unto me, saying, look. And I looked and beheld the Lamb of God going forth among the children of men. And I beheld multitudes of people who were sick and who were afflicted with all manners of disease and with devils and unclean spirits. And the angel spake and showed all these things unto me, and they were healed by the power of the Lamb of God, and the devils and the unclean spirits were cast out. So he's seeing the miracles that Jesus Christ is performing while he's doing his mortal ministry on earth while he's alive. And this is, by the way, Nephi is 600 years before, um, this took place. He was right before, uh, the Babylonian exile that takes place in Jeremiah in the Old Testament.. And, uh, anyway, I talk about that more, uh, the time period more in my previous videos. And it came to pass that the angel spake unto me again, saying, look. And I looked and beheld the Lamb of God, that he was taken by the people. Yea, the Son of the Everlasting God was judged of the world, and I saw him bear record. So he sees that Jesus Christ is taken up, um, and basically the people don't believe him and they try to kill him. And I, Nephi, saw that he was lifted upon the cross and slain for the sins of the world. So Nephi, again, 600 years before this, sees that Jesus Christ— the whole, the whole mortal ministry, again, from Jesus Christ being born to being slain for the sins of the world. And after he was slain, I saw the multitudes of the earth, that they were gathered together to fight against the apostles of the Lamb, which we know that happened as well. The apostles were martyred for what they believed in. They tried to teach the word, and they were killed for it after Jesus Christ ascended into heaven after his resurrection. For were the 12 called by the angel of the Lord. So he didn't even know that the 12 were called the 12 Apostles. He's just saying, hey, that's what the angel told me they were called. And the multitude of the earth was gathered together, and I beheld that they were in a large and spacious building. Okay, this is from the dream that Lehi had. There's a large and spacious building. It's big, floating in the air in this dream, like unto the building which my father saw. So he sees the same building. And the angel of the Lord spake unto me again, saying, Behold the world and the wisdom thereof. Behold, the house of Israel hath gathered together to fight against the 12 apostles of the Lamb. So the large and spacious building that he sees in the dream is a representation of the world and the wisdom thereof, but the worldly wisdom, not the— was not God's wisdom. And it came to pass that I saw and bare record that the great and spacious building was the pride of the world. Okay, that's what the large and spacious building was. It's the pride, it's the, the wickedness of the world. And it fell, and the fall thereof was exceedingly great. And the angel of the Lord spake unto me again, saying, thus shall be the destruction of all nations, kindreds, tongues, and people that shall fight against the 12 apostles of the Lamb. So the angel says, anybody that fights against the, the Lamb, um, they're gonna have an exceedingly great fall. Okay, that means it's not going to go well for them. Maybe they might, might look good for them while they're, you know, in their mortal state, but whether it's this life or the next, um, the fall is going to be great. So that's chapter 11 of what just happened. As we dive in, look over here. So this is all happening in the Valley of Lemuel, in this area, 3 days' journey down. And it's pretty interesting, a lot of people have actually taken this journey to see how long the route takes and it's extremely accurate of where they go if you were to just take the route yourself. I know none of you guys have been in this area. I would assume none of you have tried this, but some people have just to test it, and they're like, yeah, the route, it's pretty spot on with what the Book of Mormon says. And just to throw this out at you guys, Joseph Smith did not know much about geography, or probably anything, with a second grade education. Did not know what the heck was going on in this area of the world. I don't know what the heck's going on in this area of the world, and I'm college educated. Understand how to use maps, Google Maps, and I still like oblivious to what's going on in this area. Okay, so that's just another testament, um, that whatever, uh, that he translated the Book of Mormon by the gift and power of God. Okay, so guys, uh, chapter 11 is amazing. It's beautiful. And, uh, again, the Book of Mormon at this point, we're just 11 chapters in. Is just purely testifying of our Savior Jesus Christ, the Savior that came down and sacrificed himself and died for our sins. And it's beautiful. And I believe everything that I've read so far. And, uh, again, this isn't to convince any of you guys, but it's just to show you guys what's inside the Book of Mormon. We're 11 chapters in. It's about like 28 pages in, probably. Let's see. So this is the physical book. I'm not reading it on— okay, so I'm Chapter 11. Let's see how many chapters or how many pages we're into this. 22 pages into the Book of Mormon, just 22, and it's testify to Christ. Probably, um, I don't know, we could probably find out. Check this out, let's see. How many times does the Book of Mormon reference for Jesus Christ. Let's see if ChatGPT can whip that out for me. Christ in the first 11 chapters of the book. Let's see, maybe it might be able to. A lot of people have done studies on this, so let's see. Let's analyze that precisely. Lord God. Let's see. Son of God. Lamb of God. Redeemer. Holy One of Israel. Eternal Father. Messiah. Okay, counting only clear direct references to Jesus Christ, here are breakdowns. Okay, let's see, blah blah blah. 45 to 50 direct references so far in the 11 chapters and 22 pages to the Son of God. Pretty amazing. Okay, um, the Book of Mormon testifies of Jesus Christ. And, uh, let's see, I'm— let me see if I can summarize 12 or see what happens. Maybe I'll have to do another One, okay, Nephi sees a vision of the land of promise. Okay, so Nephi sees in this the vision of the land that he's going to. They call it the land of promise. That's where God has prepared a land for him and his father, his people. It says right here, um, the righteous iniquity and downfall of the inhabitant, of its inhabitants. So in chapter 12, Nephi not only sees the promised land, but he also sees his posterity, like his his, um, his children, children's children, um, he sees their downfall because they, they don't always keep the commandments of God. So after they get there, they get wiped out. So he sees the downfall of his inhabitants, which is extremely sad for him because he's pretty bummed after he sees that all his children's children, like, they eventually get wiped out by his brother's, uh, people eventually. And I'll explain that as we keep going. The coming of the Lamb of God among them So he also sees that Jesus Christ not only ministered to the people in this part of the world, but Jesus Christ after his resurrection came and visited the people in the Americas. And apparently, according to Jesus Christ, what he said, I have other lambs not of this fold that I must go visit. Who knows where else Jesus Christ went and visited? I can't speculate because I don't know, but he said he was going to go visit other sheep not of this fold. And he visited— we know from the Book of Mormon that he visited them. If you guys want to read that, it's in 3 Nephi chapter 11. Talks about the appearance, uh, visitation of Jesus Christ to the people in the Americas. You can read about and pray about it. It's, uh, I've read it and I believe it. But anyway, he, he sees that how the 12 disciples and the 12 apostles would judge Israel and the loathsome and filthy state of those who dwindle in unbelief. So that's an amazing chapter. I'm probably gonna have to do it tomorrow or another day. Again, I'm studying the scriptures in the morning anyway, so doing this a pleasure for me. If you guys kind of want to know my routine of what I like to do in the morning, and I'll wrap it up with this. Let me, let me stop sharing this screen really quick. So this is a pleasure and opportunity I really am excited to do because, let's see, I just want to make sure the stream is okay. So this is what I do every morning. So you guys can kind of see my flow of my morning routine if any of you guys are interested. I created a planner and I printed it out. You guys can get it on Amazon, but I mainly printed it out for myself so I could have like only a book version of how my planner and how I plan my life. But anyway, the first thing that I do every day is I wake— you guys can't really see it, but there's like kind of a to-do checklist that I go through. The first thing I do is I wake up and I pray, right? Like I wake up, pray, have a good— actually, like right after I wake up, I get on my knees and pray. The prayer is not that good, so I I get ready, brush my teeth, and then I have it like a 5-10 minute prayer later, whether that's like outside or here in my, my shop. After my prayer, I go and I study the scriptures. So that's kind of where we're at right now. This is— I study them anyway again, so scripture time. And then after that, I write in my journal. Okay, I write in my gratitude journal. So if any of you guys are kind of interested in the flow I do, it's like 10 minutes of prayer, 10 and it's a scripture study. I know I'm going longer because I'm doing this live, but it's cool because I think reading the scriptures is important. And then I write what I'm grateful for. Um, I write in the, in the very front, I keep the history of my life, kind of like if you've read chapter— I think it's chapter 7 that we went over in Nephi. He talks about he keeps his large plates in the— he keeps his large plates that talks about the history of his life, and in the very— and he keeps another set of scriptures called the small plates where he keeps his spiritual things. So, I do the same thing. I keep my history like what's happening in my life, what I'm grateful for, the wins I've had, anything that's happening. I keep in the very front of my journal. In the very back, I keep my small plates or the spiritual experiences I'm having with God. I just— in one journal, front history of my life, what's going on, in the back spiritual experiences I'm having. I took it from what Nephi said, alright? Because if that's what God told Nephi to keep, that was important. His history, what's going on. God told him to keep like the, the history of his life for the reign of the judges. I'm— and not only the reign of the judges, but the like his— the, the kings, the reign of the kings. I'm not a king, but Nephi later becomes a king. Um, but anyway, I keep the history in the front and then I write, uh, spiritual things in the back. So that's my invitation to you guys. If you don't have a routine in the morning and you kind of feel like you're just reacting to the world, get up early, Pray. Ask God to guide you through your day and your morning scripture study. Study the word of God, right? I invite you to read the Book of Mormon, read the Bible, study it together. They go hand in hand. I have a video explaining how they go hand in hand. And then write what you're grateful for. If you do these, those 3 things every day, you're going to set yourself up for success because you're going to live an intentional life. And if you guys need kind of like a structure or system to follow, how to like use your morning routine in your days, that's what my planner does. It's available, like I said, on Amazon, or you can get it for free on Kindle. It just shows you— it takes you through your morning routine, like daily disciplines that you should do, and then it has a reflection period at the bottom where you can reflect on how your previous day went. So hopefully that was helpful, guys. Um, I really enjoy reading the scriptures. I know, understand that not everybody thinks the Book of Mormon is true. I respect everybody's beliefs. And, um, I find it really interesting, if anybody's watching this and cares, it's just some people attack— not attack, but they're like, you're, you're dumb for what you believe. Like, it's interesting because, uh, I've never gone out and told someone for what they believe that they, they're dumb or like they're wrong. Like, it's not my place to just go tell random people that what they believe in is dumb. Like, if they come to me and they ask me, that's great. I can give them my opinion. But it's funny, people are like actively going out and they're like watching these videos and they're like, you're dumb for what you believe. It's like, bro, what are you doing watching my stuff just to tell me I'm wrong? Like, I got like 5 views. Like, go, go spend your time doing something else. So it's just funny. I don't know if anybody has ever thought that where people like attack other people or like take time to tell them that they're wrong, like it will actually convince them. We know that what helps convince people is the Spirit, right? Like praying about it. So anyway, it's just, it's funny. So does anyone have any questions? I know there's some people that are watching live. Do you guys have any questions about like scripture study, morning routines, like what something means? I'm open to answer any questions before we wrap it up. But if you guys don't have any questions, it's totally cool. This is— again, I want to help you guys understand the Book of Mormon. And again, if you don't believe it, totally fine. I want to help you guys improve your lives, your morning routines. Like, it's really helped me to have structure because I have ADHD. So if I don't have something like dialed in where I know what I'm going to do next, I get distracted. I'm just going to be scrolling on social media or doing something that's a complete waste of my time. So having structures really helped me in my life. Anything, anything that you guys have, I, I can check, uh, I can see the comments that are here in StreamYard, but I can't, uh, unless you guys are watching on Facebook. Let's see, I can check Facebook, but I am here if anybody has anything. Anybody just even say, hey, I can hear you, because I see there's people listening, watching live, but I don't know if you guys are actually, uh, um, you know, can hear me asking you if you have any questions. If you don't, it's all good. Just figured why not, why not chat with you guys. It's good early morning, it's been a good day so far. I'm, I'm pumped to, um, to bring this information to you guys. Nothing? All right, well, if you guys like this, my goal since I do study the scriptures every day is just to do this and kind of explain as I go what's going on. Um, again, I'm not a replacement for scripture study. This is my interpretation, um, and you guys can go and read and find out for yourself. But that's my invitation, is you got to go read for yourself and you got to pray. And you can know the truth of all things through prayer. God wants you to know. He doesn't want to keep you in the darkness. He wants you to know the truth. And that's one of my favorite scriptures, is, 'Wherefore,' um, let me think, uh, whatsoever thing you desire, if you ask in faith faith. No, man, I'm gonna blow it. I usually— I have these scriptures and I can bust them out, but if I force it, it's difficult. Um, basically Jesus Christ says, ask and you shall receive, knock and it shall be opened unto you. And I know that's the truth. Like, God doesn't want any of us not to know. He doesn't want us to be in the dark. So if you guys sit like Nephi did in this, like we just read in chapter 11, if you sit and ponder and you ask, um, God will manifest and let you know the truth of what you're asking through prayer. Promise, okay? Because I know I prayed a lot about a lot of things and found out a lot of truths. So I don't see any comments. I— if you guys, um, like this, please give it a like and subscribe, share it, uh, so I can get this in front of more people. I think it's been a pleasure to do this so far. If you want to see my other videos that I've done, if you guys enjoy this, I can show you super quick where you can find these other videos.— if you want to see my, my first two videos about— let's see. So if you guys go to Self-Reliance with Christ, let's see, Self-Reliance with Christ, the YouTube channel, I'll share with you guys. If you just go to videos right here under latest, I've been talking about what happens in the Book of Mormon. If you guys just hover over, it tells you chapter 1 Nephi 1 through 7, what happens, how the Book of Mormon and the Bible align. And this is the next video. So, uh, yeah, if you guys are interested. And then I have some videos on like how to plan your life with the planner that I gave you guys. But I hope this helps out. I'll drop the link for you guys to check it out if you want, and we will see you guys on the next one. See you later.
