In this presentation, the speaker walks through a design‑system audit that initially scored only 9 out of 16, highlighting concrete gaps such as missing character‑count specifications, absent maximum counts for button groups, use of a reserved variable type, and the lack of state‑triggering logic embedded in components. The speaker argues that relying on external documentation for agents to discover these details is inefficient and adds unnecessary latency. To address the problems, the team redefined component properties to conform to a newly established standard and codified that standard in a design‑system‑properties markdown file (or design MD file). By surfacing this metadata directly within the component ecosystem, agents can retrieve the needed information without round‑tripping to a separate docs site, enabling a clearer change‑list and roadmap for updating individual components.
