$50 million. That's the size of a new privately funded donation by friends of mine to launch the Metabolic Health Coalition. This is a group of scientists and healthcare professionals who are committed to addressing the root causes of our metabolic health crisis. As both a PhD scientist and a new MD, and a chronic disease patient debut at that, this really hits home with me because if there's one thing I know with absolute certainty, is that the system we've built is not designed to prioritize metabolic health. The system we've built, the sick care system, optimizes for treatments that maintain the business model: pharmaceuticals, procedures, and quick fixes, not long-term solutions to the metabolic health crisis. But this coalition, it's totally different. It's a move towards unbiased research and widespread education for clinicians and patients. Like you. It's a serious effort to bring logic, science, and systems-level change to a crisis that's been swept under the rug for way too long. And quite honestly, it's sad we need disruption like this. And that true change is being built on the backs of people like me and my friends and maybe you who became passionate about metabolic health because we or a loved one suffered inside a dysfunctional system.. But the sad truth is also the reason metabolic health movement, the metabolic health movement, is so robust and this coalition will be successful. Enough have suffered. Let's shake things up.
