A Matco Tools power ratchet's failed 12-volt battery can be replaced with a cheaper 16-volt pack by cutting the blue wire and disconnecting the red one. The swap costs $25 instead of $100+ for an official replacement and takes minutes to reassemble.
All right, YouTube, um, we got a quick and easy hack, trick, whatever you want to call it. Got a Matco Tools ratchet, it's a 12 volts, and the battery went bad. And this battery is like $100-something even on eBay, and the 16 battery, 16-volt battery, it's like $25. So we're gonna convert 16 to a 12-volt battery. Easy. When you take everything out, screws, take everything out. I already did it, and you know, I said, oh, let me do a video for, you know, for people. And right, so this thing is— goes right there, and the blue wire is, you know, it's connected to this piece over here, and the red wire is connected in this other side. All you have to do is take the red wire, take it out from there, cut the blue wire, take this battery out. The blue wire, just leave it like that. And the red wire, you're gonna plug it in into this battery. It's gonna be the only battery without any, any connection, just for say like that. So you connect it in the bottom, use some super glue or something that, you know, hold it, and pretty much that's it. It's a 12-volt battery. You put all the plastic and all the beautiful stuff. I'm gonna stick on there with one hand. You can use whatever housing you want, the 12-battery one or the 16. I like the 16 because you can, you know, leave it, leave it upright. Uh-huh.
