In this introductory talk to Tenet 8 of the "Feeling Stuck?" series, the speaker presents wellness as a holistic, non‑luxury necessity that spans physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual self‑care. She emphasizes the hidden costs of chronic stress and neglect, explaining how they weaken the immune system and impair overall health. The presentation then moves to nutrition, outlining the role of macronutrients and how dietary choices influence both body and mind. Throughout, she references concrete support tools she has developed over years of coaching: the Nutrition Essentials course, a Cardio Zone cheat sheet, a Wellness Commitment Checklist, a self‑care evaluation worksheet, and a Wellness Commitment Calendar. The core message is that self‑care should be planned and prioritized just like work or family commitments, shifting the mindset from "luxury" to "necessity" to improve personal well‑being and positively impact those around you.

Welcome back, my friends. 10 at 8 talks all about wellness. For the most part, we all try to have somewhat stable and healthy life, right? But how often do we truly prioritize our well-being with all of life's demands and challenges? We're going to talk about the importance of understanding the basics of stress management, recognizing the significance of proper nutrition, rest, hydration, and regular physical activity as well. I mean, these are basically the foundation of a resilient and a healthy life. For me, wellness is a holistic concept. It's about self-care in all the areas, not just working out, spiritually, mentally, physically, emotionally. I mean, think about it. How much have you paid for life-wise by not taking care of yourself? Chronic stress, anxiety, and neglecting wellbeing can really take a toll on your immune system and affect your overall health. I have worked with people for a very long time, many of whom have been at the bottom of a greased bucket scrambling to get out when their bodies are screaming at them in some way. But what if we focused on being the person we want to be in all forms and in wellness rather than responding in panic when we hit our lowest point? In feeling stuck, I'm going to keep reminding you that taking care of yourself is not selfish, it is selfless. It's a demonstration that you value your health for yourself and for everybody around you because the reality is you aren't good for Anybody if you haven't taken care of yourself. Taking from the Nutrition Essentials course, which I have hosted for years, I've had all of my fitness clients attend it or view it in some fashion. I'm going to explain to you guys the basics of macronutrients and how they affect the body. But it's not just about what you eat or the amount of calories you're eating. It's about understanding how your dietary choices are also affecting your physical and your mental health. You're also going to see a Cardio Zone cheat sheet in there, as well as a commitment— I'm sorry, a Wellness Commitment Checklist. In the companion workbook, the self-care evaluation is going to help you see which routines are most effective for you and where you need improvements, whereas the Wellness Commitment Calendar in the companion, it's going to assist you in staying focused on incorporating healthy behaviors from the Wellness Commitment Checklist, which you're going to see in the book. Remember guys, most of life is about being resourceful. It is not about having all of the resources. You've got to plan your self-care just as you plan work, meetings, and other family commitments. I'm here to remind you that your well-being is not a luxury. It is a necessity. We've got to learn to shift the attitude that we get to take care of ourselves when everything else is done, because that list can go on forever, right? Most of us know that. So invest in yourself. You're not only improving your life, but you're also positively impacting everybody around you.
