So I think that Max is looking for peace, peace in a troubled world. I think that he just wants to get his rent, get his semi, get his groceries, and go home to protect his life and his family. To maybe wait until everything is solved. He doesn't know that the government will solve it, that the society will solve it, that mercenaries will solve it, that only the cops will solve it, the whole mess that was brought into his world.
